Axpona 2023 Photos

Mike's other room with Clarisys speakers, Hegel amplification, Shunyata power distribution, Altairas and with Venom-X cabling throughout was VERY impressive. One of my top 5 rooms.

The Blumenhofer Acoustics room with Takatsuki SET amplification and Sforzato music server was lovely; very musical and involving.

What we call in professional RE interior photography: a "1-point" shot of Mike's Clarisys room with Constellation Inspiration preamp and amp, DCS digital stack with Shunyata Omega cabling throughout, fully segmented Altaira stack, with Everest and Typhon power distribution. The new Omega speaker cables are pretty astonishing.

Something of note with the Clarisys speakers is their "integration" with respect to all aspects of speaker driver performance from the lowest bass registers all the way to the highest "highs" was incredibly "seamless" and smooth.

I heard many folks leave this room in complete disbelief that there was no subwoofer in this room. One of my friends, David, said, "I'm going back in when no one's looking; I know there's a sub in there...somewhere."

Mike, I noticed you've paired the new Hegel P30A/H30A combo with Clarisys at both FLAX and now AXPONA. What are your thoughts, are they a big step up from the older series?

Hi Rance,
I hadn't heard the older Hegel series, but the system I heard at AXPONA was absolutely outstanding. One of my top 5 rooms.

They really are. Especially the preamp. Big step up. The amp is fantastic and effortless too.

New $5k Phonostage designed by Peter Malnik for MOFI. I want bad!

New $5k racks from Finite Element. Killer nice.

Florián and the former chief engineer for Apogee. He designed the grands, among many other models.

Rockport/Vinnie Rossi room sounding good.

I think that is Peter Madnick (formerly of Elac with Andrew Jones and formerly with Audio Alchemy). Larry

Another room that was a standout for me was the Westminster Labs room. With Von Schweikert speakers, LampiZator Horizon DAC, and the Westminster preamp and monoblock amplifiers, this room had it goin' on with superb tonality, imaging, responsive and dynamic drive.

Aside: the Westminster amps and preamp are designed by Angus Leung, who also designed Lumin's amp, appropriately named "Amp", and is also in charge of Lumin's global sales and marketing.

That's correct, Peter Madnick. Chatted with him on Saturday about the new Mo-Fi phono stage. It's very impressive both with respect to design and engineering specifications. The power supply is completely isolated and shielded from the amplification circuitry.

Agreed. I ordered one. [emoji15]
