Aurender NH100 Server Glitches on File Transfer

I use Aurender music server/iPad App connected via USB to some KEF active speakers which with the exception of occasional minor glitches withthe App, my major problem is the lack of robust, sustainable connectivity while transferring files via macbook pro.

Within a few minutes, or a few files uploaded, to the server I encounter (-36) error fails.
These errors are not really related to the files themselves, because I can navigate to the
file at issue and simply re-upload the file fine.

The server/Mac OS relationship seems to be not compatible. This is pretty much a mystery.
At first I made sure to clean folders of any invisible files, and even correcting or adding permissions for folders full of audio files

I would like to be able to drop big gig-loads of files and walk away for an hour or so and come back without finding that the process has errored out for what appears to be fallacious errors-- confirmed by the fact simply navigating to the suspect file and dropping on to the server works fine.
The process of "hand" draganddropping many thousands of files is a ridiculous way to load the server
Any advice would be appreciated
p.s. the issue occurs whether over wifi, or ethernet connectivity
 
Not sure if it is possible to use a NAS with your device, but having a NAS that is accessible to multiple devices is the best solution. First, you save the music to the NAS and don't have to transfer anymore. Also You will not have to deal with mismatched database (a very likely outcome when each device has its own storage), plus you benefit from the redundancy of a NAS.

Regarding your MAC issue, make sure that the drive is formatted in a manner that is compatible with MAC OS. Some drives are formatted for Windows based or Linux based machines.

I have copied TB of files between an iMac and an N100 and an Nip and have never had an issue. Sounds like a network problem or more than likely a flaky Ethernet cable

Re: the NAS I'm probably not likely to acquire further drives, the 3K for the Aurender was sort of my budget allowance ;-)

Re: Network problem... so far I have tested two wifi routers and new ethernet cabling and encounter similar results.
1. ATT U-verse internet router, and 2. an older Apple Airport Extreme wifi router as a private local network

However, I have on a number of occasions had pretty good success using a data back-up app which is able to slog past any errors and complete transfer of large quantity of files. Any errors encountered were simply logged, and was actually related to the Album-Art file associated with the audio file. Unfortunately the particular app that I have used seems now to have issues with Mac OS compatibility ;-(

Anyway the success I have had by using a back-up app suggests to me that it is Mac OS Finder which has issues with
maintaining sustainable connection to the Aurender server which cannot be re-formatted and is I believe a Linux based OS device.

I plan to experiment further with other data back up apps to
 
PS. Make sure that your Mac has no energy saving features (sleep mode etc) enabled while doing the transfer.
 
I can check but I am pretty sure that's all configured to eliminate any potential sleep triggers ...
 
new observation:
I recently dragged a bunch of files from Aurender server drive to an external drive, as a secondary back up.

This process showed no signs of anomalies. And though, not a scientific test .. it appears
the problem of file glitches (permissions, or the presence of ds_store files?) are a one-way problem for what ever is going on with my mac's OS.
