Audio Distribution in North America

It is really hard for me to get my head around all the retail stores going down that are. I must be one of the few that actually still goes to the store, but, when I do I see people there. Is internet sales that high? Especially all the clothing stores, I couldn't imagine buying my clothes online, I like to see, feel, in person and make sure things fit. How many pairs of shoes have you tried that were the same size yet fit quite differently?

Best Buy should have died first, I blame them for a lot of what's happened, they basically caused the trend of retail without service, they are basically a warehouse where you pick out what you want and after you pay your money you are on your own or pay more money. People foolishly flocked to BB to save a couple dollars opposed to Mom & Pop who had to charge more but used to be able to help you if you had an issue with what you bought. And, genuinely cared if you came back. BB got so big they didn't care how they treated people.

Oh, and, that's really good Mike, distribution has to have integrity :)

One thing that helps B&M higher end audio dealers not having their product sold online or in 5 different stores in the same town.

I may not be back on for a while, I'm going to benge watch all the Terminator movies in an attempt to prepare for the future.

When is the last time you went on a tour of an auto factory. (I've been through the Porsche, BWM and Corvette plant) Its Robots everywhere, building cars, moving parts all over the plant, painting cars its actually amazing but at the same time its the demise of human labor. Ford now has robots working along side man, called co-bots. From a Ford site "" Ford is now reviewing further use of collaborative robots, which can be programmed to do anything from making a coffee to shaking hands" and these co-bots also are used in pharmaceutical and electronics industries, we even have hospitals having robots perform tissue surgery.(STAR- Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot ) . And 4 days ago a robot performed first ever robot surgery inside the human eye.

Man might program them or we think we do :), but the days of the robot is here and moving forward in a rapid rate. There are even 45,000 robots that automate the picking and packing process across 20 Amazon fulfillment centres. The time of man in an industrial labor role is dwindling. Maybe the high end audio world is still immune and man still has some pride left in building and distributing audiophile gear.
Last time...in the 1990s SEAT plant (VW group).

Rise of the machine...I hear you.
As much as I dont like it...driverless cars are just around the corner and will be here so fast, heads will spin.
Lots of the lost auto jobs went to retail.
