At Long Last - My new baby has been delivered

Thank you Peter. That does sound frustrating. Waiting for a highly anticipated product and have it arrive with those types of issues. It definitely sounds like software/firmware issues. I hope it is resolved quickly for you. I am rather surprised that they shipped the product with those types of basic control function issues in the software.

I agree, particularly as the M33's anticipated delivery date of arounf March was delayed until October, largely as a result of Covid. However, some of those clever IT guys at NAD could have continued to work (probably from home with a pre-production sample) to develop the firmware / software. The fact that the same excellent and programmable remote control is used so effectively with the M32 and M12, but so poorly with the M33 is galling to say the least! Let's hope NAD get other suggestions of ways to improve the useability of this great sounding product. Peter

It might take some time (due to the logistical problems at NAD you describe), but firmware updates should be able to give you the functionality you desire. A real Swiss Army knife! Of course none of that would really matter if you didn’t like the sound; congratulations!

I owned the NAD M12 for about two years. It made me a NAD fan for their functional and sound qualities. The issue I saw were fairly small but also frustrating. When I turned the M12 on I was unable to dim the display. Even though the manual made it seem fairly easy. Going through the instructions and trying to do something that should be so basic is very frustrating. I contacted through the web page my issue.

That was my first experience with NAD support. What I learned was that NAD is actually a fairly small company. Not a Sony or Samsung etc. The help I got was from a west coast rep who was also their west coast "issue guy". He gave me his phone number and with the NAD engineer team help me with this little issue. I think NAD has a lot of good engineers/Geeks and a few tech support people as needed. I've learned over my working life a few things about engineers (I worked in the aerospace world). They don't think of how things work in the real world. They understand how things should work by design. But, in the real world by real people. Things need to work as if a nine year old or your grandmother was using it. And the instructions shouldn't need a degree to understand. NAD makes great products. But you are also working with a niche' company as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the review Peter and sorry you are having issues. It seams to be common place to use customers as beta testers these days and its sad(especially on this high end of a piece of kit). We need to start holding these companies to account and not buying from companies who do not properly test and perfect before release. That's the only way to fix this situation imo. Personally, I would return the M33 out of principle(I avoid early adoption for this reason) and let the boys at NAD know they lost a sale because they rushed an unfinished product to market. Maybe if enough of us do this they will learn the lesson or, if not, go bust...
