Anyone listening to movies through QX5 via DX5

Just hooked up my qx5 to my DX5 and the CDs are now playing through Qx5 nicely via AES/EBU connection and in dac mode. When I insert a movie into DX5 all I hear is scaring sounding pops and cracks. I have the qx5 set to video and it still making scary opposing noises, any advise?
 
I think it gets worse :(

now when I switch the source back to just the DX5 it does not play any sound for music or movies, I made sure to flip the dao switch back to correct setting; when I first tried the qx5 for movies it first made a large pop static sound no I hope something did not break
