I am thinking about setting up something so I can stream from Tidal's high rez subscription. I've been looking around and landing on W4S website, I really like their Music Servers. They do more than what I was looking for but if I do decide to rip discs the unit is ready. I also see they have DAC's.

I may have missed W4S's initial buzz but I don't remember them having the buzz of Schiit or Oppo, so wondering how W4S performs?

I am a novice at this to say the least. The #512 has no inputs to the DAC.

Full disclosure, EJ is a friend of mine. With this said I would say their DACs are very good. DAR KO and 6-Moons recent did reviews of their 10th Anniversary DAC. Both gave them top ratings.

I have a DAC-2v2SE; and even though I have been researching other DAC options, I would say that it really is a great sounding DAC. One of the best implementations of the ESS 9038Pro chips out there. Because I am always changing and also now looking for a DSD512 DAC there is a small chance I may put it on the market sometime.

Here is the DAR review as an example:

Mr. P

If you want the option of also being able to rip then also look at the Innuos units. Alex at Alma Music sells them.
