Ansuz Cables & Accessories

I would have liked a D2 as well, but I just couldn't bring out the money for it this time as I'm changing my entire system... C2 will have to do, for better or worse... :)

I've sold more or less all my Diamond cables, decouplers and power distributor products together with some of my other equipment. My original plan was to stick with only the minimal amount of cables I needed for my scaling down project and that I could be flexible about which ones to keep. But then a buyer came and bought everything in a extremely nice package deal (mostly for him), and I figured I could just as well "start over" from the beginning...

Which I of course did... And did I ever have thoughts about trying another brand? Nope! Not even a little? Nope! Feeling very loyal and committed here. While I've been evaluating different amplifiers for a while, I was already clear on that I wanted a new Mainz 8 C2 as foundation to build upon with a just few A2 cables to my new integrated solution. These are all now on order. First one has to sort out clean power and cables, then the actual amplifier decision comes last in the chain, right? :)

@Mordante hey, buy my Job 250 monos... they're amazing value to a great price! :)

Are the jobs 110V or 240V? I'm Dutch.

For now yes, but I'm planning to look into other options there as well. It's a bit more complicated due to room limitations, and in general it feels like a much bigger thing to change.
As Lars pointed out during his cable/power distribution at Axpona Start with the foundation and you might be very surprised how good the rest of your system really is.

I recently replaced the final power cord to my Naim NDS streamer with a C2. All the rest of my cables are C2 as well. I also tried a C2 Mainz 8 instead of my D8.

I continue to be astonished at the magnitude of the improve Ansuz makes in my all Naim system. I simply had no idea of what my system was capable of. I have pretty much been a cable skeptic as I have never experienced a power product that didn’t foul the Naim sound in some fundamental way. I have never heard a more musical and realistic sound coming from a Naim system.

I liked the C2 Mainz so well I decided to get the D2 Mainz which should arrive today. I let you know what I think.

Can't wait to hear your impression of the Mainz C2 vs D2. I have yet to hear those. I replaced my MainzD8 with the D-TC when I asked Mike B at a demo if he was going to come out with a less expensive option. His answer was no. I should have known better. But that said my D-TC is going nowhere. I'm amazed the difference in power cord SQ when comparing A2 C2 and D2. So much more than the original A C and D.

I wrestled with the purchase of my Mainz DTC but bought one to replace my Mainz D. I can’t say how much difference it makes because I made other changes at the same time. If I’d known there would be multiple V2 choices I might have passed on the DTC version.

i did buy a pair of C2 digital Coax’s to connect a Chord BLU CD transport to a Chord Dave DAC.

While waiting for the BLU2 to arrive (3 months and counting) I compared one of the C2 Coax’s to my Ansuz DTC USB and to my Ansuz DTC Coax. I used the cables between an Aurender N10 and the Dave used as a DAC.

Using both headphones and speakers it was clear to me that both DTC cables were superior to the C2. All the cables were excellent but the DTC’s provided a richer, more organic sound. This was especially apparent with piano. As with most things there is the law of diminishing returns. The $12,500 DTC Coax was better than the $3,600 USB and both better than the $3,000 C2 Coax.

I have the chance to upgrade the C2’s at a good price but I’m going to keep the C2’s since for the application between the BLU2 and the Dave I think they are good enough and better than what just about any BLU2 owner is using.

Today I decided to buy the Mainz 8 D2, using it for a week now and getting better everyday.

My system:
- Aavik U-300
- Magico V3
- Aurender N10
- Wadia 381i
- Oppo BDP103D (with Audiopraise digital board)
- Ansuz Mainz A8 (now Ansuz Mainz 8 D2)

A couple of weeks ago I visited the Ansuz/Aavik demo in Munich (Marriott Hotel), Ansuz introduced the new power distribution blocks too fill the price/quality gap to the DTC distribution block. Luckily they were willing to demo the C2/D2/DTC. (in that system the D2 was very close to the DTC)

My local dealer ordered a few C2/D2, and offered me to try them in my system, first decided to only take the C2, which I had in my system for two weeks, it did improve the energy in the low frequencies and sounded a bit more open, but in my opinion it was not enough to pull the trigger.

Then I tried the D2, over the first week it kept improving (and still does), again more energy in the low frequencies, more open sound and now also increased detail. (soundstage got wider, deeper and higher).
This morning I took the D2 out of the system (back to the A8) and the whole system was very difficult to listen too.

Anyway, long story short, the D2 has gone back into my system and will stay there.

Very happy with the Ansuz products in, they do work in my system, have to say that the power cables (with the 10mm ground wires / distribution blocks give the most bang for the money. But as always YMMV.

Bud when I got my Mainz D-TC to replace the MainzD8 the difference was huge. It was like adding several layers of resolution to everything. I could also play music almost twice as loud which I believe is due to the lower noise floor. I know this sounds crazy but you should hear what a second Mainz D-TC does. I was floored at Axpona. For grins and giggles on the last day I brought mine for a total of 3. I immediately heard a difference but not quite as much as adding the second one.

I'll admit that my system has never sounded better.
When I first got the Mainz DTC, I had a Naim rack and the center rear post prevented me from cabling it the way it should have been. Then I bought the Raidho rack but couldn't get the Darkz's under the Mainz DTC because of limited access.
When I got the Quadraspire rack I was able to cable everything the way it should be and put the Darkz's under the Mainz DTC. I attributed the improved sound to the Darkz's and the Quadraspire rack.

While the Darkz are a nice improvement they are not even close to what the Mainz D-TC brought to the table.
I heard an improvement when I upgraded C1 and D1 PC’s to DTC PC’s when I had a MainZ D8. I wonder if I would have heard a bigger improvement going to the Mainz DTC if I still had those PC’s,

Anyone knows how much weight the Darkz D-TC can handle? 35kg should be ok? If I have two layers with ceramic balls in between, will that make a difference in how much weight it can take?

The Darkz D-TC can easily handle 35 kg. The ceramic balls shouldn't make an issue either

I am very happy with the purchase of the Mainz 8 D2, just wondering if the mainz distibutionboxes have a preferred polarity ?, I have tried both ways (shuko plug) and prefer when the "top" connections of the outlet sockets are hot.

They come as 3 layers, with 2 layers of ceramics.

I have 4 each under 256 lb speakers, no problem

Only 1 layer of ceramic bearings if you get the adjustable version.

Noted, thank you.

Also, from what I have read if your floor prevents proper balance you only need one adjustable, somehow in my case I lucked out.
