Are there any inherent limitations of an amp that can switch between 300B, 2A3 and 45 tubes? Jack-of-all-trades and master of none? I know of only one such amp, while there seems to be a number of amps that can switch between 2A3 and 45, or between 300B and PX4. Is there simply little interest in such an amp or is there some technical reason why such an amp is not a good idea?
I currently rotate between a 300B amp, 45 amp and a 2A3 amp. The possibility of one amp that can handle all three tubes is tempting, but I can't escape the idea that there must be some technical/sonic compromise.
