I had the same problem put the amps in a rack with 3 inches of space above the amp no room for cat.

I seemed to have gotten lucky as my four cats ignore my stereo/HT. They have learned that it is fine to walk by it, but loitering or touching is verboten.

My cats leave my audio stuff alone for the most part as well. Sometimes I do find them on my Denon amp in the computer room though.

Our cat actually leaves my audio stuff alone, but she doesn't like anyone in her space or on her rug. When you approach her space she just gives you that look.
