Hi. I am currently shopping for amplifier to drive Dynaudio Focus 380s (87db) speakers. In no particular order, so far I am interested in the following list of integrated / separated amps:

Bryston 4B Cube - which preamp will go well with this amp?
Simaudio 600i
Pass Labs Int-60
Naim SuperNait 2
Simaudio P350 / 400M combo

My budget is about $10K Maximum. I heard great things about the new bryston amps but some people mention that bryston amps can sound sound with dynaudio speakers. I personally prefer Int60 from Pass Labs, but not sure if it has enough power to drive 380s

Thanks.

I think the Simaudio and Bryston will sound too hifi/sterile with the Dynaudio speakers so from your list I also would choose Pass INT 60.

I could see the Naim Supernait2 as a wonderful alternative. It has great pace and timing with a sweetness that is addictive. I miss mine and often think of going back to Naim.

If you're buying new, I'd throw two power amps in there for consideration; the Wells Audio Innamorata ($7k) and Modwright KWA-150SE ($8995). The Innamorata gives great bang for the buck imho. Both are 150 watt amps & should drive your Dyns with authority.

Second hand, you've got a world of options; BHK 250 stereo hybrid amp (circa $7.5k), Devialet 400 mono's (circa $9k), Bat VK655SE (circa $9.5k). I even spotted a pair of Classe CA-M600 mono's + CP800 pre on A'gon going for $9999 which would swing.

For 2nd hand integrateds, i'd check out the Vitus RI-100 (circa $9.5k), Simaudio Evolution 700 (circa $8.5k) & Accuphase E-600 (circa $8200). There is a Sim on A'gon FS at the moment & an E-600 on USA Audio Mart fyi...good luck!

I've heard the Naim + Dynaudio combo, and I can attest it's wonderful, so that's the amp I would go for.

Then maybe consider INT-250. Same footprint, though taller, than 60. You'll never regret whether you have enough power even if you change up speakers down the road. Talk with Mike about your budget constraints.

As a former Dynaudio owner, I'll just say they always sounded better with more power and therefore would go Class A/B. I'm also not a fan of the Sim/Dyn combo at all and feel its too cold.

I personally would think the Bryston would sound good, the Focus lean a bit warm from neutral to my ears anyway. Also, keep in mind, as a Dyn fan you probably already know they love the current.

I also agree Naim is a good choice. I've always thought Naim had good PR&T without sounding too sweet.

Keep in mind this is to my taste, I find Sim Audio fine gear, it just has a sound I don't enjoy, some have called it "dry", it's like the soundstage is in a heavily damped room.

Pass is definitely good stuff, I think with 380's I'd try to swing separates, and then the choice would come down to taste, Pass+Dyn could be really polite.

Hmmmm.... might want to research Wyred 4 Sound.... Excellent sounding extreme quality build... Made in the USA, with 5 year warranties.

However in your budget you could go with their upper line of equipment which is amazing... SST... Spread Spectrum Technologies... http://www.sst.audio/ ... The line that was started by the legend James Bongiorno. James and EJ Sarmento collaborated in the redesign prior to James death and these amazing pieces were recently reintroduced. The Thoebe II pre-amplifier and the Son of Ampzilla II amplifier would fall in your budget. One of the best combination amp and pre-amp that can be had under $10k.

I'd like to know whther Naim Supernait2 's power is enough to drive Focs 380? because its output is only 80W ?

And how about FM NuVista 800 ? thanks for advice.

How big is your room? How loud do you listen (average) measured at 1 meter from the speaker?

Hello pigangry1,

the SN2 delivers more power you will need with your speakers in a room about 40qm.
NuVista 800 is another level, price also.
