I now have the AMG Dual Arm Viella on demo.

The AMG Teatro is mounted in the 12" 12J2 and the Benz LPS Mono in 9.5" 9W1

Yeah, initially I didn't want to do the dual arm option as I thought it would spoil the tables beautiful looks. Now that I have seen it in the flesh I think its kinda cool looking, I like it.

Hi Mark,

Can't really tell from the photos, is the extended armboard supported on the other end?

Thanks!

No its not and initially I was worried it would act like a spring. However, the thing is about a centimetre thick and there is zero deflection. On top of that the AMG tonearms are very light. so no support required here.

I've been using this twin armboard as well.
Got the miyajima zero mono on the 9"
Very happy with the result and look.
I was curious about the open underside of the armboard plate but after installing it, i get why they designed it like this. As Mark mentioned, it is very thick, solid once installed, and flawlessly machined as per AMG. The bonus IMO is the ease of access under the arm for connecting the DIN end of the phono IC without needing to move the viella off the platform or disassemble it to get access.

I am going to winnow down to one turntable so I need to sell either my AMG v12 with new matching HRS stand and less than 100 hours Benz LP-S cartridge (or less than 10 hours MC Anna) or my brand new Spiral Groove SG1.2 (they just came out with the upgraded version of the SG1.1). What do you guys think?

Oh boy, timing is everything. The SG and V12 are my two favorite tables, but I just bought a new Lexus two weeks ago and am a little cash poor now at the moment. As much as I'd love to have either table, I'd have to wait until next year before I'd be ready for the cash outlay again. Now I'm sad😢
