Joe,
From what I remember you gave the same general description of the Valvet E2 to the Sit-3. Anything you can share about the differences between the Valvet vs Akitika? As always your wisdom/experience is appreciated!!
 
Hmmmm, descriptions are a little tough.

Regarding the Valvet, it’s less compressed/dense than the Akitika amp. The Valvet is the most open of the three amps. When you hear a great amp, it’s like the music just fills the room and there’s space around instruments and vocals. The Akitika doesn’t have the same air and openness as the Valvet, while the Valvet just lets the music out, unforced. The Akitika has a meaty tone but is not as clean or 3D as the Valvet.

10audio.com has a review/update of the Valvet E2 SE. dammit, now I want that too.

Thanks for the input Joe. I pissed off the distributor by asking him what the differences were between the E2 and the SE on Audiogon. He said I would have to wait for "the review". I told him I thought it was ridiculous that the company didn't supply him with any info on what changes were made internally or give any info that could be passed on to potential customers. He threw a passive aggressive conniption :)
 
Even their website was a little cryptic about the enhancements.

Our current E2 amps are awesome. I wish I would have been made aware of the new version but it happens all the time. We can only keep waiting for so long.

I’m most happy about my SIT3, so it’s all good.

Sonic Impressions

  • Akitika GT-102 + LS3/5A As before, the combo with Schiit Saga and LS3/5A worked a treat, especially with digital. The LS3/5A are placed near field and in front of my horns, and they just disappear. At low level, the images are relatively small, but crank it up to normal listening level, the images flesh out. In fact, one could easily mistake the sound to be coming from the large horn system behind. From vocal CDs to Bruckner LP, the sound is highly articulate, just enticing. Few bookshelves can equal, let alone surpass, the LS3/5A.

The GT-102 is insanely quiet and a little sweet/warm. Value is stunning. I can’t believe how great it is for how little it costs.
 
Joe.... why have you stopped at only 11 amplifiers (mono's count as one :P)... I think you need a full dozen :)....

I would love to try the Job mono's; still kind of upset that Goldmund stop producing the Job line :(.
 
If you only knew about what else I have ...... :)

The Job 250 monos on your Maggies will be heaven. I think you should consider them. I have enough power with my Job integrated. Think about it.
 
Ouch, I may have to... got to let my wife get over the Abyss headphones and Magnepan speakers purchases :)....
 
Man that would be nice.... well I will find out in a couple hours how the Maggies sound with the T+A :).

No tv, no music, no generator, no internet except my iPhone. Ugh, this is terrible. Looks like downed power lines around the corner causing this, no update on when repair is expected. Over 340K on Long Island w/o power. I think it’s more than that.

I bought two of those portable car jumpers a year or two ago and occasionally charge them up. Just topped off my phone late this afternoon. Definitely have a few more charges in them. Very cool.
