My wife and I recently (6 months) moved to our new home in Sarasota. My wife enjoys music as much as I do. And, therefore, I was able to design and build a dedicated music room in our home.

Over the last few months, I setup the system in a new rack and amp stand from Artesania (thanks Mike Bovaird). Mike Bovaird and John Chait helped me defined the best seating location and speaker setup. We measured the room to get the best possible setup. I installed the Aperture panels and have continued to tweak the room. Finally, about 6 weeks ago I got the setup to what I consider to be "perfect" for me.

Well, today, I had A/C maintenance done. They replaced two vents in the music room that were a bit noisy. In order to do that, one of the technicians decided to move one of my carefully placed Wilson Alexias without telling me! We have hardwood floors in that room and, thanks to the Herbies (thanks Mike Bovaird!), no damage was done to the floor. However, I now have to reset the speakers!

One reason why I recommend a system log to my RoomPlay clients - so that you can put things back exactly where they were as well as reset any adjustments that were unexpectedly adjusted...

Yeah, nothing like pictures and placement measurements to get things back into their respectable place , I've been doing that for many many many years

I use Herbies Stainless Steel Gliders under my 200kg per Speaker Wilsons and I can move the speakers around easily when fine tuning positioning.

Compared to the the Wilson Sliders that are over 10 times more expensive @ $800, the Herbies are bargin central @ less than $80.

Highly recommended

I literally have about 80-100 Herbies to move around all the speakers in the store. I buy them in bulk! I even put them under the racks so I can slide them in and out easily to make gear changes and hook up cables.

Under the MPOD’s, I use large disc furniture gliders. Makes moving around 300+ Magico’s a lot easier.

IIRC, I first recommended the Herbie’s gliders in a Quarter Notes newsletter about 8 years ago. Still haven’t come across an equivalent product for these applications.

Man, I hate when someone messes with my gear. I've had service from satellite people do that. I don't even want them to turn anything on, I can do that for them.

Way back in one of my first apartments the company began replacing all the heating/cooling systems. I came home one day after mine was done and my stereo was on, I knew I didn't leave it on. The workers had been listening to my system while they were working was my conclusion. I don't know how anyone else would have reacted but I went off. Luckily the management didn't set me out on the street, LOL

I use small pieces of tape behind my speakers to mark their positioning just in case they have to be moved. Then I don't have to remeasure.

I appreciate everyone’s comments. Interestingly, I had the traditional tape markings on the floor but removed them a few weeks back (for cosmetic reasons).

Well, things are back to normal. Speakers are in place as before. All good!

Hello.

Which model did you use?.

The Cone/Spike Decoupling Glider (Titanium). I can slide the Wilson Alexias easily over the hardwood floors without any issues or markings on the floor. And, subjectively, I feel the sound on the bottom end is tighter than with the OEM bases.

You are a much braver and trusting person than I, 180lb. amps, 120lb. speakers. I get nervous just thinking about it.

I never let service people in my room unattended if they are working near equipment. That said I do trust and respect any of the subs that come in our home.

Very good to hear everything was fine, Ritmo.

I had several people working in the house at the same time. The guy that move the speaker was well intentioned and apologized profusely. All good, no damage just a few extra heartbeats on my end and a few hours to reset the speaker. If anything, a good excuse to lock myself in the dedicated music room to “fix” the problem (if you know what I mean)...
