Has anyone had any direct experience with both Absolare amps and the Zanden mono amps?

I'm contemplating a move to one or the other, probably the SET in the Absolare, whereas the Zanden monos are push pull.

if anyone can comment on their respective sounds would be much appreciated - thx

SET's will give you a certain kind of realism and presence that's hard to get from any other topology imo.

I've got the Absolare 845 SET mono's together with the Altius preamp here, so feel free to ask for any specifics.

What does your system look like today, and what speakers will you be using?

thx Marcus

its Coltrane 3's driven by Triode TRX M845s and Junone preamp. Vitus Masterpiece Dac and Transport. CMS rack. Siltech, PAD and Tara cables.

have u had the chance to compare the Absolare push pulls to the SET? I love the SET sound but from all accounts both brands' push pulls are meant to be very good.

I believe that the SETs should drive your Coltranes in a normal sized room at reasonable levels without any real constrains. I've got a client with the first generation of Coltrane using an older version of the The Lars SET monos which are much less powerful.

The Absolare push pulls as well as the hybrid integrated are surprisingly close in character to the SET's. Ultimately though, I'd choose the SET's.

thx for the advice

my room is very small and power is certainly not a problem with my 50watt Triodes - id love to listen to the The Lars, but alas not in Australia
