A (GREAT) Visit to Gary's Listening Room

Bary...thanks for sharing.

Gary...it's interesting the way you have your speakers lined up in the room. In the other pic threads (or the recent thread I posted about PS Audio's new listening room where they set up a set of Infinity IRS Vs), the midrange/tweeter towers with the wings are often in front of the bass towers which are often to the back and to either side of the mid/tweet towers. Also the mid/tweet towers are often well into the room and the bass towers while behind them also have a good four or five feet behind them to the wall. My understanding is the IRS Vs need a lot of room around them to breathe.

In your system it seems like you have lined them up in a row and very lose to the back wall. Just wandering if you have tried them both ways and if this is your preferred set up or are you somehow limited in how you can set them up because of room size or some other factor? Just curious. Thanks.
 
I do have my speakers arranged a bit differently. In the owner's manual, it states that you can set the speakers up either way, in a line or the midrange/tweeter towers in front. They can also be arranged in an arc focused on the center seating position. My speakers are about four feet front the front wall. Since my listening room is not separate from the rest of the house--it's actually a room we use a lot for entertaining and I use that system a lot for listening even if I'm not in that room, I didn't want to pull the speakers still farther into the room. Four feet from the front wall gives enough room for the speakers to breathe without taking up the entire room. Yes, I am making a little bit of a compromise.
 
Gary...got it. Thx. I was just curious given the only IRS V set-ups I have seen online have been with the mid/tweet towers in front. I was just curious. I am sure your system sounds amazing :thumbsup:
