This is a very interesting article. I fully believe I can hear dramatic differences between redbook CD rips and 24/192 and a huge difference in DSD/DSF files.

1. Perhaps your DAC decodes Redbook CD suboptimally (this is not intended as an inflammatory suggestion, but a technical possibility).
2. Perhaps the masters are different, with frequently more attention given to good mastering in the 24/192 format.
3. Perhaps the dramatic differences are just that -- differences. It could also be that 24/192 injects intermodulation products into your reproduction chain (see article) which causes differences in sound. In that case, 'different' would not be better.
The above three possibilities should be excluded before proclaiming that so-called 'hi-res' is better (an unfortunate misnomer, BTW, since Redbook CD emphatically is a high-resolution format).

Hasn't this article been pretty well beaten to death on-line? It's over 5 1/2 years old now, several lifetimes in terms of digital technology development.
