17 Cover songs that are better than the originals???

I agree, some were obscure bands covering obscure bands, LOL. Obviously the writer has a different taste in music than me, I like some White Stripes but the cover of Jolene, that happened to be #1 no less, was painful.
 
Foo Fighters - Baker Street. Really?
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah. It is very good. Gotta go with the original off "Leonard Cohen Live in London".

Should be on every list: Aretha Franklin - Respect. She owns Otis Redding's song.

And just for fun: Manfred Mann - Blinded by the Light. Sorry Bruce, they kill it.
 
True, but in the writer's defense he did preface he was sticking with Alternative. He uses examples of Metallica and Lenny Kravitz as to what we wouldn't see. However, your examples are true covers better than the original. Confession, I didn't even know Redding did Respect.

I don't get Jeff Buckley being on the list. Alternative???? IMO-No.

As for "Hallelujah", I prefer k.d. lang over Buckley.
