    Tad me-1

Has anyone heard these speakers? If yes, can you please provide your listening impressions... There have been 2 recent reviews in both Stereophile and The Absolute Sound. They seem to be getting a great deal of favorable comments and buzz. They seem to be standouts at the shows, with reviewers going back to the room for a second listen, and then requesting review samples. I have to admit, I think the design & overall look is just spectacular. And the price is right (at least relatively speaking for TAD). Call me very intrigued at this point.

I love them. Heard them in Munich and my buddy bought the sample pair from the show. I’m glad he did, or I would own them now. I own both of their bigger brothers, the CR-1 and the R-1, so the sound signature appeals to me. Expensive, but huge sound in a small package. In a way, I like them more than their bigger brothers because of the sound to size ratio.

Thanks hounddog. Really appreciate that feedback. My closest dealer to me won’t be ordering any new models for demo till the pandemic is ‘over’. I’ve been curious about the top end and whether they would perform favorably in a somewhat odd sized room of 20x28 room that opens up kitchen and dining area. Going from my floor standers to ‘bookshelf’ makes me a little hesitant.

wow you have the bigger tads! That’s gotta be pretty exciting to say the least.

Thanks for bumping my original thread. Guess I should provide an update. I ended purchasing a pair of Me-1s in the beautiful Titanium finish. As soon as I heard the Me-1s in my room, I knew instantly that these were the speakers for me. They are a special speaker and punch way above their size and class for a bookshelf in my opinion. To put this in perspective, in my room I started with Wilson Sabrina's, then upgraded the Yvette's...but when I put in the TAD Me-1s, the sonic presentation was further elevated and refined in my opinion. They are a beautifully balanced speaker, with superb imaging and coherence, and I think the beryllium tweeter is one of the finest applications on the market. The Me-1s have that special quality that allow your favourite music and recordings to be elevated to the point that the speakers just disappear and emotion and connection of the performance washes over you. I feel so happy and grateful to have made the leap to the TADs!

    Thanks for the update @audioguru1!
This is really a meaningful post. As you mentioned, I also placed Sabrinas into the virtual equation. The tad dealer closest to me did mention them and the venerable Harbeth based on my interest for midrange, and coherence with just a little more on imaging. The tweeter does concern me but ultimately, a demo is the right thing to do to cure that curiosity. At least it will tell me which direction I’d need to go. If everything hits the right notes, I’ll patiently await for a purchasing opportunity.

Going from Yvettes to ME-1s says a lot. I realize that its all personal but thats a very interesting story!

    Re: Tad me-1

@Audioguru1 I have heard the TAD ME1 with the Luxman 900 series stack and that system was amazing. I heard it in a very large room without much reflections affecting the sound at the seating position. I see your speakers are very close to the corner of the room. I know the speakers are ported on the side and thus you can keep it closer to the walls. Can you provide some feedback on your placement experience and the dimensions of your room? Do you have them in an ideal position?

Another newer speaker that could be interesting to compare with the TAD ME1 would be the Magico A1 at 1/2 the price. It is a sealed design. I hope to have a demo of that at a local dealer. Covaid makes that date uncertain. The A1 needs a bit of space to breath but nothing out of the ordinary as stated by the dealer.

    Re: Tad me-1

The way you have your ME-1 placement I would suspect benefits the bass load in the room. To your point, these speakers do punch above their class and are even that special as it reproduces the music in a smooth, revealing and fleshy kind of way. Attack and decay of that Be tweeter keeps you smiling and replaying that same section of song over and over again just to appreciate the “spookiness.“

@audioguru1! The Titanium looks great... we don't have this option in Hong Kong so I ended up with the 80th anniversary edition. Lovely speakers and I now have to take my upstream components up to its level

I’ve added a subwoofer into the mix with my ME-1s. These speakers are really difficult to improve on but the extra low notes increases frequency response and provides an overall increase on listening pleasure.

Sorry, I didn't notice this message

Tried posting image but not succeeding. Anyway, it looks exactly the same as the normal black ones except the rings are Rose gold instead of silver.

Since I am in a small apartment and cannot listen to music too loudly, these guys are great even without subs for me.

    Happy listening

They are absolutely amazing without subs. Debated long and hard whether to integrate a sub. The ME-1s are phenomenal with its range and its ability to throw a really big stage...For me, it was more about what it could sound like in full range - without breaking the bank, grabbing the next in line TAD.

Update: Added a stereo pair of subs. Any new ME1 owners out there or updates to current setups?

    Re: Tad me-1

If I had to move to a smaller place, it would be ME-1s and a set of stereo subs for me!! Of course, I’d have to sell the R-1s and the REL 212SEs, but the ME-1s are the real fighters in the TAD line. I look forward to your thoughts with the subs ....
