Thread: Kef kc62

I received my two KEF KC62s yesterday. I was able to play around, move around and get them a little dialed in last evening. Obviously, they will be needing a bit of break in. Those 1000-watt amplifiers in each certainly need some break in.

I cannot give an honest over all opinion at this early time, but I can make some general over all comments. First off it is insane how small these guys are. I tried some small subs in the past (Rel, KEF cube, etc.) and they always did not do the job (kinda sucked actually). These are amazingly solid, over 30 pounds each in about a 10" cube size (rounded to match the Metas). Metal and solid. Very solid adjustments and fairly easy setup, once you figure out KEFs multi language manuals.

My initial impressions are that they are very very solid, fill the bass nicely without drawing any attention to themselves. They appear to be sonically invisible, once you find the best location.

I believe these will be the best subs I have ever owned, and I have had several. Rel, KEF cube, KEF R400, Elac, Rythmik, etc.

A friend has one with his Metas he says it is surprisingly very good. I made a comment on the price and using two 6 inch drivers and competition but he asures me they deliver the goods. I'll be able to have a listen sometime in the future. His observation was same as yours as to how they blend in so well and makes the system sound like just a good floorstander.

Easier to place, seem less strained, seem to integrate with my Meta's very well, more power, built like a tank, less directional, extremely tight which is something I really appreciate in a subwoofer. The Rythmik are a really good sub. My favorite prior to these. These just seem to be a perfect match to my Meta's and definitely a fairly large step up from the Rythmik.

Of course a little early to be 100% decided on them, but I was very impressed with how well they work with my LS50 Meta's. I felt that all together the KC62s made my little speaker system sound as a very nice floor standing speaker, which is what I am looking for.

I had actually watched this video earlier. It seems that John was quite impressed. I also saw a video that Steve Guttenberg did when reviewing them. He was also very impressed.

I can also say, in no uncertain terms, these are the best subwoofers I have ever owned, and I have had a few (Rel, KEF Cube, KEF R400, Elac, 2x Rythmik, etc.). They are very solid, disappear, add very nice low end impact, and are so easy to place... oodles of power, etc. Two of them literally have 2000 watts of power....
