Although, I do know some good stuff, unfortunately, I am not smart enough to keep from getting in an argument, so it it becomes minimized with the back & forth....

I have mentioned it before, but I wrote a 7 part series on subwoofer installation for Copper e-mag.

Copper 14 Subwoofery: Trick or Treat?

Copper 15 Subwoofery: Trick or Treat? - part 2

    Copper 16 Wait A Minute!

    Copper 17 Subwoofery: Smooth Operator?

Copper 18 Subwoofery: Location, Location, Location

    Copper 19 Subwoofery: The Basics

    Copper 20 Subwoofery: The Finale

    It was called Subwoofery.

Funny... I just got done reading your 7 part Subwoofery articles, and everything that you mentioned is pretty much the same exact thing I have been doing for years as well. From just "plopping" the mains in the room and finding the smoothest bass response for the listening position to pretty much ignoring the "rules of thirds" etc, etc.

I have always believed in getting the system to work with the room the best I can first, mainly because I lived in apartments for years and/or really couldn't afford room treatments, so getting the system to work in the room has always been the only option for me. But now, room treatments are definitely in the near future for my room, so getting the system/room right first is even more paramount. Typically leaving DSP/EQ at the door.

I was able to find several of the articles mentioned. Thank you!

Interestingly enough, it looks as if you rely on measurements first and then on your ears for fine tuning, as opposed to your ears only.

Maybe that is what you are referring to when mentioning the misconceptions/fallacies of posts in this thread.

...A relatively straightforward goal can be best described as never feeling the need to readjust the sub with different recordings or types of music. When you get that aspect working you are done, or at least well on the way.
Yes, sometimes these simple terms are more effective for everyone to understand.
    This couldn´t be more true.
There was a time when i thought i needed a remote control to change the subwoofer volume for each song.
Now, i don´t even remember the sub is there...

To close out this section, let’s agree that we want the sub to disappear as an obvious source of the sound.

    That´s it!
    Simple!
