Golf trip to Myrtle - need restaurant recommendations

Hey guys, a small group of us (6) are heading down from NY to Myrtle the first week of May to play some golf. I need some decent restaurant recommendations for central Myrtle. We are staying at Myrtlewoods.

    I guess the usual stuff
    - steak
    - American
    - Seafood/Steak
    - BBQ

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob

Wow. Brings back great memories. Did that trip about 20 times in the late 80's through 2005ish. Strangely enough, we foud some great nightlife in Murrell's Inlet on the way back from Pawley's Island playing Caledonia and True Blue. Was worth the drive.... Have fun!!

Shame you are not going to Hilton Head. I was just there in December and found many decent places.

Have Fun and I hope you are not golfing in an ice storm. Also, be careful, North and South Carolina drivers regularly do 20mph above the limit on 95 and will run you off the road. Also, skirt around Washington, too much confusing construction and traffic.

Nah, 4 of us are flying down from NY and renting a car. One other coming on from Chicago and another driving from Charlotte. We don't plan to go anywhere near 95.

We did central Myrtle last year and had a great time, so decided to go back. Maybe next year we will try heading south a bit, or maybe to North Myrtle - for a little variety (as if that were a problem down there).

Good to hear you are flying. I drove to HHI on the Sunday following Thanksgiving and it took 13.5 hours. We came home on the Sunday where the Eagles played in 8 inches of snow. Left at 530am in the rain, by N Carolina it was ice and ice and snow from there on to home after 15.5 hours of white knuckle driving.

Been there, done that, swore off ever driving to HH again. Took the trip about 10 years ago with small kids and wife, stopping for food, bathroom, etc it took me basically 2 elapsed days each way. Drove back in a hurricane and said "never again". With the overnight costs of the hotel, the lost vacation days, gas and aggravation of taking route 95 I will always pick an airline ticket over the car if I can.

Smart man. Had the same sort of experience with Myrtle Beach. How can you NOT fly?

I don't travel lightly. We also take food for many meals in the villa we get.

At least after that last trip, my 9 hour drive to Stowe in 2 weeks will be a breeze.

We are playing the Myrtlewood courses (of course, since we are staying there) to start on Thursday - though some of us may try and get in another 18 on Wed when we arrive:
    - Palmetto
    - Pine Hills

    Then Friday we play
    - Grand Dunes

Then finish up on Saturday with
    - Man O'War
    - Mooreland

    Last year we played:
    - The Wizard
    - MB National (West)
    - MB National (Kings North)
    - The Witch

Next year I may try and book North or South Myrtle - we have now hit the highlights in the central area except maybe the Legends courses.

Nice choices. I've played many of those. May I suggest at some point driving down to Pawley's Island for Caledonia and True Blue.
