These look really nice and will most likely have strong sales figures.
This offering with the new Vantage Live Active model will give YG broader appeal to more consumers.

Mike would you say the Magico A series is the lion share of their sales? If so I can see YG going for that market to boost production. High end audio I would think has a shrinking consumer base. I really like the use of dual materials in the cabinets so what I call “pretty” wood can be used to boost the aesthetic appeal. For the members who have heard the YG how does their sound signature compare to Magico which I think is the direct competitor?

With the S3 mk2 no longer available for almost a year now and the S series in general maturing, the A series and M series have been the main focus of interest for our Magico customers.

High end audio does not have a shrinking consumer base IMO. That’s something people have been saying for 50 years in fact. We have far more manufacturers and far more people interested in audio today either because they’ve always wanted it (but had kids to put through college), younger folks who’ve gotten into the hobby through headphones (our biggest sign of growth IMO) and the home theater crossover market.

Another dealer released a PR yesterday saying he’s been doing this for 50 years and he’s busier more now than ever.

What has changed is the go to market strategy of most manufacturers. A few however, still live in the stone ages of “territories”. The problem with territories is that’s what leads to piss poor service, laziness and arrogant asshole dealers. Their attitude being “screw you, you want that amp? You can only buy it from me because you live in my territory!” The internet has changed everything. The dealers who fail to adopt, cry foul “but that guy lives in my territory!” Meanwhile “that guy” didn’t even know they existed because that dealer has no online presence, doesn’t market themselves and doesn’t hustle. They’re the ones that call their manufacturers and ask for leads! Trust me, I’ve heard it all.

Back to this announcement: I agree with your points. Sound will be the key!

I stand corrected and you would know being on the frontline of high end audio everyday. Could you take YG on as one of your product lines?

Anything is possible! But I’m kind of maxed out and for the most part, happy with my lines. I really feel I’ve got a killer speaker lineup. Something would have to go and there is nothing I can think of right now.

Hmmm….a couple. The funny thing is that they don’t seem to understand the downside.

You sell a customer a pair of speakers in Georgia. You sell him cables, a rack and a power conditioner. A Lumin and a few other things. Now he wants a new amp….guess what? You won’t even mention that amp brand you can’t sell outside of Florida. Doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re letting the other brands be sold instead of yours. SMH.

    Anyway, back to YG’s announcement.

    YG Acoustics Launches Peaks Series

There are better pics on the website now:

    HOME - YG Acoustics

Two stand mounts is very interesting. Usually you just see one in a lineup of a series.

Mike is YG attending the FAE? Probably too soon to have working models of the Peaks line if so?

Re: YG Acoustics Launches Peaks Series

Good mover on YG's part. They are learning that the world doesn't begin and end with machining metal, and now folks can enjoy their soft dome tweeter and excellent crossovers at a lower entry point. I think the standmounts are around 8K, and the sub 8K also. That would be an flexible and interesting system. Also, a little wood grain helps keep the living room from feeling like it has been invaded by Imperial forces...

The reason Suncoast is thriving. I live in an area that has many many high-end stores, but I can’t think of anyone that isn’t asshole-ish. Guess what, 100% of my system is not from local.

There are many manufacturers these days and if you think there’s still a significant customer base that feel they must have a brand or two, you’re delusional. So many good sounding AND good looking products to choose from for any part of an audio system. What rare is a good dealer.

I loved the way my Carmel looked. Not sure about these, I showed them to my wife, she was not going for the veneer sides. She said it looked like an Ikea type of finish. I am sure they will sound good. Would be nice if they had more pictures.

I would be interested to hear some of them and the Descent subwoofer looks intriguing.

Re: YG Acoustics Launches Peaks Series

This is great news to me.

Makes the brand more accessible to a wider audience but, keeping some of their key technologies.

Further, it looks like the Peaks Series are all sealed cabinets so, no ports.

I honestly was only expecting 3 models to compete directly with the Magico A series.

But, this is good news for the brand and industry.

Looking forward to hearing them in person.

I have had significant listening time with both YG Acoustics Sonja 2.2 and Magico M6 at both dealers and shows. While I agree that the brands are direct competitors, their sonic signature in my opinion is quite a bit different. Both brands sound terrific and I like each model very much.

When I listen to the YG Acoustics Sonja 2.2, their tonality is extremely neutral, you truly forget about them. They do not wow me with their sound but they allow me to focus on the music. After extended listening, I really began to admire how they step out of the way and enable me to become immersed. The tweeter is invisible, midrange is lifelike and bass is fast, textured and goes deep but is not visceral.

When I listen to the Magico M6, I admire their amazing precision, transparency, imaging and soundstage. There is a major wow factor with these speakers. They also disappear but it is more from an imaging standpoint. If I close my eyes, I have no idea where they are in the room. They produce a huge wall of sound. They also have more robust and powerful bass with perfect texture but there is some emphasis in the mid to upper bass. Midrange and tweeter are highly detailed and transparent. They are all about accuracy.

The speakers sound different enough that if you listen to both, there will be a clear favorite. I can’t imagine anyone saying it’s a toss up.

For the members who have heard the YG how does their sound signature compare to Magico which I think is the direct competitor?

Years ago, I cross shopped the Magico S1Mk2 and YG Carmel 2.

Outside of the amazing treble resolution of the Magico Smk2 (Diamond coated Beryllium) which was superior to the Carmel 2.

YG has since released their new tweeter technology called Billet dome

    BilletDome™ - YG Acoustics

However, it makes it debut at the Hailey 2.2 and higher in their speaker lineup.

So, it hasn't tricked down yet.

That said, I purchased the Carmel 2 and haven't regretted it since.

I found that the Carmel 2 was a all around superior speaker to the S1 Mk2.

To my ears and tastes YG's are very special.

I look forward to having my Carmel 2s upgraded to the 3s when they are released

Another "advantage" to me over Magico is upgradeability.

When the Magico S1 Mark 3 is released. You'll have to trade in the speaker or sell it yourself.

Whereas, YG offers upgradeability to their speakers.

I had the Carmel 2 for a couple of years. I loved them although you need a sub to go along, which was always a contentious issue.
I was going to upgrade to the Hailey, but then I heard (and then bought) the A5. I don’t have much experience with the A3 or A1, but to compete with the A5, the new series would have to be as good or better than their expensive offerings. YMMV.

My understanding is that he’s heavy into real estate now and no interest in audio.

Question is whether the new 'Peaks' series still will require a steam engine brute of an amp upstream as does the rest of the YG line? If so, have YG really made any progress??

YG Rack is more expensive than some of these new YG speakers. Weird.
