YG Acoustics Hailey 1.2 added to system

After having played with Magico's V3 for almost 10 years, I had the opportunity to trade them in for a mint second hand pair of YG Acoustic Hailey's.

It took a while for them to settle in my room, after three days I did not hear any significant changes to the sound anymore, so I could start the fine tuning. Placement regarding low frequency was done quickly, the speakers easily couple to the room without any excessive or booming bass, they go down quite deep. (compared to the previouse Magico V3's)

With moving the Hailey's regarding highs/mids took more effort, they react to changes as small as a couple of MM's, and to get them fully coherent I had to tilt them forward, so the tweeters are directly aimed at ear height at the listening position, toe-in has been set as per manual, halfway between straight and directly aimed at the listening position, this gave the widest soundstage.

I have enjoyed my V3's for a long time, but the Hailey's go a bit further, more lively without getting harsh, love the soft dome tweeter.
Soundstage width is about the same as with the V3's, it goes nicely outside both speakers, stage depth is a bit better with the YG's.

Never thought that I would step away from Magico, but very happy now with the result in my room with the YG Acoustic Hailey's.

Are there any other members on Audioshark playing with YG Acoustics ?

    Stay safe and Healthy

Thanks gents, system sounds very good IMHO at least, it sounded good with the V3's, but after " fixing" the power supplies in the electrical cabinet (Router, Cable entry box, ifi powerdistributer with some extra ifi purifiers) and now adding the Hailey's, the system is addictive, don't even want to take a toilet break :-)

Forgot to mention I also added a Gigawatt circuit breaker (no more fuse), this is a very nice upgrade (installed in separate audio group)

I've had Carmels (first generation) for six years now, and continue to thoroughly enjoy them. Recently changed amplification from BMC M1 monoblocks to Bricasti M25 stereo amplifier (paired directly with my Bricasti M1 Limited Gold DAC), and after a few weeks of settling in, it is a fantastic pairing.

    Congrats on your new purchase!

The rack I made years ago, had the wood cut in the correct size and put it together myself, it's very heavy (Bubinga hard wood)
Made it myself because I wanted to have a closed back, so I am not looking at the cables behind the equipment.
Still playing a bit with the rack by changing out the vibration devices between the levels.

Re: YG Acoustics Hailey 1.2 added to system

Thanks Bart, they are very transparent and fast, musicality is great, before I have never really looked at YG (into Magico), now reading up a bit more on them and I think they have a winner with the Dualcoherent crossovers, if I understand correctly, YG is the only company that have the sofware (algoritm) that can calculate both for Frequency and Time. (normally it is one or the other)

Anyway, I am very happy they integrate well with my room and system.

I have not listened to the Sonja's yet, hopefully in the near future when the Audio shows come back. And yes both brands make great speakers.
Years ago I listened to YG acoustics at the high end show in Munich, probably one of the earlier Anat's, they sounded very analatic at the time and a bit hot in the treble region. I kept that mind set for years regarding the brand. That lasted till my dealer had a pair of Hailey's, I listened to them next to Magico's Q3 (a speaker I always liked a lot) and I preferred the Hailey's in his listening room.

    Sure.
    I am digital only :
    - Esoteric K01XS which is starting to take the dust ...
    - SGM Extreme server
    - Lampizator Pacific DAC.
    SGM+Pacific is a fantastic combo !

Preamp/amp I am still undecided. I listened to most of the Swiss, Japanese,European and US brands and my favourites are :
    Soulution 725/711
In a (very) different style : Dartzeel
and Audionet Scientist series but that latter one is a contender "on the paper" as I could not listen to it yet.
There are many other great amps ( Gryphon, Dag, Boulder, CH, Accuphase,Ypsilon ) but for different reasons ( price, footprint, personal taste,synergy...) I removed them from my list.
