Intersting first take from TAS, however not much woofer piston area for an almost 700k MSRP speaker ( 12" and 10.5"woofers....isn't that what the 110k MSRP Alexx has?)
Oh I forgot they will be offering two outboard Subwoofer towers....one only wonders what the final MSRP will be for the "Fullrange" WAMM....

    From RH's first take:

"I’ve never heard drums reproduced with such speed, impact, and transient precision."

    FYI- RH's current reference speakers Magico Q7 Mk.IIs have 1- 10" and 2- 12" woofers.

    Robert needs the Q-Sub 15 or 18's.

Those Magico subs hit like a megaton-size warhead! That combination would be like an audiophile version of an AC DC concert!!

    Agreed.

    My favorite tweeters are:

    M3's/Q7 Mk2
    S7/S5 Mk2/S1 Mk2
    Salon 2 (don't tell Mark)
Diamond tweeter in the Tidal, Estelon, etc.

Back to the WAMM, I hope to hear it one day.

Even though Robert Harley is able to articulate his thoughts quite well, he is so predictable. Reading his reviews, the sound quality and impact of every component is in direct proportion to its price. Everything is the best & greatest until something more expensive comes along!

As well-rounded and complete a loudspeaker as the WAMM is, I’m reluctant to single out any one aspect of its performance. But there was one area in which the WAMM so far exceeded any other loudspeaker I’ve heard—the clarity of individual instrumental lines, as if the WAMM had “de-homogenized” the music. For example, on the Sheffield direct-to-disc The King James Version, I had never heard the individual timbres of each instrument in the brass and woodwind section with such crystalline clarity. On every other speaker through which I’d heard this record reproduced, the baritone sax blended in with the other instruments while adding tonal warmth to the brass and woodwind section by virtue of its richness in lower-order harmonics. But through the WAMM, the baritone sax was a fully independent instrument rather than just another sound within a continuous sonic fabric. This precision with which the WAMM reproduces music was apparent on every piece of music I heard. Yet despite this massive resolving power, the sound was anything but analytical or clinical. Overall, my brief listen to the WAMM is one that will remain for me a landmark in my life of listening to and evaluating music-reproduction systems.
The WAMM will begin shipping in March. Incidentally, I wouldn’t be surprised if elements of the WAMM become the basis of a new platform for several models of Wilson’s upper-end speakers in the future. Stay tuned .. RH

So, what does a $685,000 speaker look like?

Price aside, that is one ugly "conversation piece" for the guy who can buy anything whether he actually listens to it or not. But I guess there is no accounting for taste when unlimited resources are involved.

Re: TAS: First Listen to the New Wilson Audio Modular Monitor (WAMM)

I dont find the Speaker unattractive and i suspect like D'Agostino's amplifiers they prolly look better in real life than whats being captured in pics, color will play a big role in its presence, i would have done the mid/hi modules in black as an offset color to the rest of the speaker , i do like the adjustability of the top modules , good when adjusting for listening distance and room gain , setting it up will be a job and a half thou, listening distance will be very critical ...

    Agreed 100%!

In fact, there can only be one position with this speaker. Certainly no listening from behind, standing, or in front of the preferred seat.

However, the focus at the main listening position should be awesome!

Cannot see how it would do well at an audio show, with rows of seats.

Luckily, my next-door neighbor is a contractor.

The expansion of my listening room to accommodate the WAMMs and two sub towers should be completed by the WA projected ship date.

My golfing buddy is installing the solar/battery power system next week.
