Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
I'll jump in here. Not exactly a panel, but definitely not a cone or box. It's a ribbon dipolar line source.
Infinity IRS Series V that I tri-amplified using the PassLabs XVR1 three way active crossover.
OK, the woofers are cones, but they taper off at 106 Hz. From 106 Hz to 4800 Hz are the midranges and above 4800Hz are the tweeters.Last edited by GaryProtein; May 27, 2013 at 09:59 AM.

Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
My first post on the forum guys.
I've got a pair of mint Apogee Duetta Signatures. I've pulled the crossover out of the speakers and put it into a separate outboard box. Replaced resistors with Mills, replaced caps with a variety of Russian PIO's, Sonicaps, Auricaps and left a few of the vintage Sprague's in there, also potted the inductors.
These baby's need power, so I've got a McCormack DNA500 delivering about 1200 watts into their 3 ohm load. Of course there are still tubes in the preamp and phono stage (gotta have tubes somewhere).
Enjoy,
Bob

Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
I have a pair of Martin Logan Theos. In the past, I've owned Quad ESL 63, Maggies (forgot the model), Acoustat 1100, and ML ReQuests. When I got married, I had the ML Requests, which completely dominated our new living room, so to make my wife happy, I sold them and bought a pair of B&W 804. When the Theos came out, their size had a greater WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor), so I talked her into another pair of 'stats! She's starting to think that even the Theos are too big, so the search for an adequate replacement may soon commence!

Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
It's the living room. It adjoins and is open to the library, dining room, kitchen, office and beyond, which all enjoy, to some extent, the glorious concert hall effect that SoundLabs provide, with little fall-off to the full spectrum coherent sound; while the 'sweet zone' is best, the music is everywhere, and one senses that they are not far from the orchestra or stage. Fortunately, my wife appreciates the music enough to overcome the normal negative WAF of such large panels in the house.

My wife enjoys music, but not to that degree! When I listen to hardcore atonal music, I spare her and use my Stax headphones. I have yet to find any speakers that have the utter clarity, detail, and lack of coloration that they have.

Just editing and adding another line. Been thinking and maybe I have been more of a fan than I think. Old Quad's, Acoustat model X's and Apogee Scintilla's were all very much enjoyed in my past.

Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
My first set of panels. I've listened to the Magnepans over the years and IMO they finally got it voiced right. Not sure what sauce they used, but it is very special!
Now most times I hear speakers with enclosures I can hear the enclosure affecting the bass tone.

Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
The one thing panels seem to do far better than most coned speakers is they get the continuity better from top to bottom. Not all do this quite as well as some, but after listening to my Apogees for quite a while now I always seem to hear the discrepancy between the tweeter and mid and woofer on most other speakers, and it bothers me.
Vine, Vide, Velcro - I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Re: Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????
Beautiful speakers, Rod!
Industry disclaimer: I am a dealer of D'Agostino Electronics, Wilson Audio, McIntosh, Devialet, KEF, Magnepan, Martin Logan, Wadia PMC, Nordost, VPI, Spatial speakers, Audeze, Wyred 4 Sound etc, so anything I say related to Audio/Video is most likely biased...not that there's anything wrong with that!

I continue to be very impressed with the Esoteric “Master Discrete DAC”. I’ve owned my N-01XD for a couple of years and it continues to impress. I believe one would have to spend at least 2X to get...
