Re: Looking for help comparing bookshelf speakers before hearing
I am not personally familiar with any of the speakers that you list.
Nor do I know what type of sound that you like.
Asking a question like this is like asking which car I should buy.
I would encourage you to go and listen to those speakers. Keep an open mind. Don't let others opinions cloud you're judgement.
Then pick out the one that moves you.
After all you are the one that will have to live with them.
Take your time and don't be influenced with additional sizzle or overblown bass.
Find the one that "talks" to you.
Good luck and enjoy the journey. My System

Re: Looking for help comparing bookshelf speakers before hearing
What amp will you be using? I haven't heard most of those but a few points may help.
The SM82 is very old and I didn't care for the "Studio Monitor/SM) series of Infinity. They were high sensitive to play loud. My guess is last made in mid 90's. I can guarantee Infinity don't have any replacement parts. I wouldn't recommend them unless using a very low watt amp and they practically gave them to you. The 82 weren't expensive to begin with, just an 8 inch 2-way.
Acoustic Research may sound good but they have been out of business for years.
If the other models are equally as old, I'd recommend looking for a new set of speakers in your budget. Or, at least something used in the recent half of the decade.Aurender ACS10 w/Audioquest Diamond USB, Esoteric N05xd
