    JBL Bel Aire Speakers

Has JBL every reissued this masterpiece of mid-century modern design, and if not, can we petition them to do so?

How I would love a pair of these!

Got it. I was wondering if you just saw pictures of them or you had heard them.

I would expect that they sound good, based on my experience with JBL and the era during which they were made.

Two versions of them. One with a single 8” woofer and the second version which adds a tweeter. This was JBL’s first attempt at making a small compact speaker.

JBL is coming out with a 6" 2-way monitor, I get the models mixed up, so many, but I think the 4329. To my knowledge no reissue of the model you mentioned but they are revamping several olde models. L100's, 4312g, 4349 etc. Check and keep an eye on the Synthesis lines.

The newish HDI series sounds really good. Th 1600 is a small monitor and is getting good reviews.
    Aurender ACS10 w/Audioquest Diamond USB, Esoteric N05xd
    Mark Levinson #526, 534 & JBL 4367's
    Clearaudio Performance DC w/Maestro cart
Clarus Concerto & their Crimson cables

    HT: Marantz AV8003, Linn 5125, JBL SAM3ha, Revel s30,
    SVS PC13 Ultra
Transparent, Analysis Plus & Tributaries. PS Audio filtering
    Sony XBR-75X940D & BDP
    Parasound P6, MBL 8006b, Artisan speakers/subwoofer

Do these feature mid-century modern design like the Bel Aires?

No. If you want a pair of Bell Aires, you will have to search them out on Ebay. You could contact Kenrick in Japan. Kenrick is famous for rebuilding classic JBL speakers for their customers and building clones of the some of the classic JBL speakers where demands outstrips supply of the original speakers.

Do they look as cool as the Bel Aires? The images I saw made them look fairly generic.

If you want a pair of Bel Aires, you need to find them and buy them. They aren’t coming back.

If you are correct, then JBL's decision makers are out of touch with contemporary tastes.

You're right about the images of the L300. The pics are kind of dark and don't show the beauty of the Summits at all. I remember they looked and sounded wonderful. They were pretty pricey at the time.
