Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Help me pick a new pair of speakers.
My equipment list is listed below.
I like my Revel m105 speakers but feel there is something better available. So, if anyone can
recommend a starting point or a set of speakers, please feel free. My budget is around 4K. I would
like to stay with bookshelf speakers but will consider others. My listing room is 13x21 ft.
Current setup:
Rogue Audio RP-5
Rogue Audio Hydra
Gold Note PH-10 w/PS-10
Rega planar P8 W/Ania Pro
Revel m105
SVS SB1000
Thanks

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Welcome aboard.
Since you want to stay with Bookshelves, take a look at the Fyne 500SP or the 502 for floorstanders.-----------------

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
We would recommend the Fyne 502 for a fairly long, narrow room and your budget and match with the rest of your equipment.

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
I'm really looking for:
-better sound quality
-better sound stage and image
-more refinement
Just something that sounds better than what I have.
I listen to jazz 85% of the time. The other 15% is a mix of everything.

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
I can highly recommend Janszen zA1.1/Carmelita (same speaker, rebranded name). New they run about $5k/pr (which is slightly above your budget), but if you can find a used pair, it'll be somewhere in the $2k-$3k range. I used my pair in a sat/sub combo with an SVS SB-13 Ultra and it was very satisfying. Only reason I sold them was to move up the ladder to the Valentina. Contact David Janszen via the website ... he may be able to hook you up with a pair.

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Just a couple suggestions to add to the list.
I am an admitted JBL fan, you might look at the L82 or L100, the HDI 1600 is very good but may be too inefficient.
Maybe something in the Monitor Audio Gold series. I really like their current stuff.
Dynaudio are good, the Special 25 as an example, again though, not the most efficient brand.Aurender ACS10 w/Audioquest Diamond USB, Esoteric N05xd

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
In your price range, I'd suggest checking out the Amphion Argon3S. I think it could match your needs very well.

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Harbeth Super HL 5+ XD (or 40th Anniversary, same speaker)? My room's 14' x 27'. Perfect for my application and they do sound killer. Deep, wide, soundstage. Great, tight, strong, bass. The mids are robust but warm. No harshness at all. Very detailed but smooth top end.
I really like this speaker. I'm powering the Harbeths with a Pass Labs int 250 integrated which is 250 wpc and class A up to 15 watts. Then it goes class A/B. Superb symbiosis. Can't speak to other amps and Harbeth speakers but they are stellar with my system.
I listen to jazz and bluegrass 50%. Brass and acoustic instruments are to die for with the Harbeths.Amplifier: Pass Labs INT 250 integrated.
DAC/Streamer: MSB Discrete Dual Power Supply.
Server: Roon Nucleus with lifetime subscription.
Speakers: Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary
Model.
Headphones/Amp: Focal Stellia phones, NAIM Uniti Atom Headphone Edition headphone amp/music player/server/streamer.
Cables: AudioQuest Rocket 88 speaker cables,
Mackenzie interconnects.
Speaker Stands: HiFi Man.

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
I use the Fyne 502 and they are really cool speakers. A lot of forum members here already recommend them, so the choice, I think, is obvious ))

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Hi,
I am taking a look at the Revel M126Be, Monitor Gold 200, B&W 705 Signature, and the Dynaudio Special Forty.
The only one I have auditioned at this time is the Monitor Gold 200 (a little more than I would like to spend), but I like
the way they sound. But no decision at this time. I think the Revel M126Be are my first pick.
Thanks for your reply

Re: Help me pick a new pair of speakers
Hi All,
I finally pulled the trigger on a pair of Revel M126Be's (Gloss Black). I really like this speaker.
It checks all the boxes for me and sounds great in my listening room. To top everything off,
I really got a very nice price on the set. So, I think my search is over.
I would like to thank everyone for replying to my post, it way a big help, thanks.
