    Gauder RC7 MK2

Nope - these are the Mk1's. VERY misleading ad by the previous distributor.

Big big differences between the 1 and 2. The 2 reportedly has a killer new crossover, diamond tweeter, etc.

    Mike,

For an additional speaker brand, I would consider Tidal, Vandersteen and YG. These are all great brands with superb sound and high build quality and reputation.

    Re: Gauder RC7 MK2

Thanks Ken. I have the Rc7 mk2's coming to me in about 3 weeks to have/demo for 2 weeks. I think that brand is about to explode in popularity. Dr. Gauder has done some amazing things in the design of the crossover, use of materials, cabinet design, etc.

Stay tuned....but keep the suggestions coming!

That's great, Mike, congrats! I've never heard the Gauder but if David says they rival the Raidho's, I believe him. He has a great ear.

I agree. I can't wait to hear them in my room, but I am keeping all options open. I REALLY like Tidal too.

Next logical question, what choice of amp(s)?

    Air Tight, Pass, T+A.

Speaking of T+A, I'm so glad they won a Golden Ear award. I've been harping on about T+A for months. It's amazing sounding stuff, built like a brick shit house (it's build quality rivals Accuphase) and is priced fairly in the market.

Definitely worth checking this out Mike. The BM35 and BM50 are the absolute top in the world and I wouldn't be surprised that they will replace other speakers from your own listening room :-)

Mike, here is another speaker to consider:
    The SilverFlame or WhiteLight anniversary
Lumen White - the best loudspeaker

They seem to be hooked up with Ayon Electronics at shows.

These Munich guys have similar aesthetics to Gauder:

I've heard Ayon a few times. Always seemed noisy to me, I also detest the constant barrage of ads on Audiogon by their dealers or Ayon themselves. Kind of devalues the product IMHO.

Its a pity about LumenWhite, given they won best sound in Vegas 2013 by AVSShowroom, same in SF 2011 by PFO magazine and Constantine Soo gave them a rave review here:
Lumenwhite Artisan Speaker Review - Dagogo | A Unique Audiophile Experience

I guess they are best known in Asia...and then Europe, but they clearly are very capable transducers,. i have only heard them once myself...Zurich 2012.

I am curious wether you will like them.... I love them, especially with the right electronics (class A and no negative feedback). At the high end fair in Munich the Gauder sounded wonderful with Vitus, however, I did not appreciate that much the bigger RC9 with the AVM electronics.

I think Gauder will be paired with Accuphase. Will be interesting to see.

For sure.... I currently have a Grandinote Domino preamp in my system and it's a killer! I'm still waiting for their Demon monoblocks for a demo in my system, but I guess they will blow my Pass XA 100.5 away.... give them a listen if you have the opportunity at CES!

    Re: Gauder RC7 MK2

I was on a dinner yesterday with Mr.Gauder. He is one of the most knowledgable speaker designers around. He is one of the very few who has a scientific background behind him (he is still giving lecturers at the local technical university) and trully understands what is going on in speaker and crossover designs. It is like talking with a Mercedes engine designer / engineer as opposed to some tuner that thinks he knows better.

I'm rarely impressed, but this time I was.

I need to sample his current designs based on Accuton drive units as I've never heard those.

What about Gamut, Lansche, Venture audio, Hansen audio, Peak Consult, Verity Audio? It seems these brands don't have large dealer network in USA.

The Gauder speakers look very nice. They are using tank wood (Panzerholz), no? Vitus had a cool setup at Munich last year with these speakers. I have only heard Accuton drivers in my friend's old Marten Coltranes. They were large sized stand mounts (can't think of the model). Very clean and fast sound, like stator panels, but with decent punch down low.

  30. #80

    Re: Gauder RC7 MK2

Here is what happens to an Accuton driver when they're driven by the wrong amps. Apparently the wife of the owner of these Martens turned his under-powered amp up full tilt while she was in the shower which sent the amp into clipping, followed by about a second or two of wild cone excursion which face-planted the ceramic drivers into the protective mesh screens, cracking them like a chocolate egg!

In the last years Accuton has largely improved the power handling capabilities of their ceramic drivers. Also my dealer "shoot" in the past some Accuton drivers, but no bad news since Accuton changed their drivers some years ago.

At the Munich show we were listening the Gauder speakers with Vitus electronics at 110 db - without any auditible distorsion!

    Re: Gauder RC7 MK2

@Audiophon, yeah they were an old pair of Martens. I believe one of the changes they've made to newer generation Accutons is to increase the gap of the mesh screen to avoid damaging the ceramic cone, and to allow for greater linear movement.

    Hello Audiophon,
you wanted to listen to the Vitus SS-025 and the SS-101/102 at home. How was it? I am going to listen to Vitus RCD 100 and RI 100 at home in two weeks.

    Re: Gauder RC7 MK2

    Hi Dirk,

Yes, I wanted to ask the local Vitus importer for an audition of the SS 102 at home to substitute my current Pass monos. I am really a fan of Vitus and I took some long listening sessions at the Munich fair last year and this year and was really overwelmed by their sound (much better compared to the AVM electronics in Gauder's own room). However, by the end of last year I had a listening at home of the Grandinote Demone preamplifer at home. I was so floored by the qualities of this Pre that it never left my home since...

Meanwhile we got our second kid and the hobby now comes second.... so for now, no auditioning of the Vitus at home.

Which amps did you try with your Gauder?

    Martin

How about spike bases or tuning feet? I tried Harmonix RF 900 Mk2 with my RC7 Mk2 Diamond, didnt like it, to lean, no dynamics. The sound was dull.

I use the original spikes with a granite base below. The granite base is decoupled with air-filled feet from the the wooden floor to avoid the floor from vibrating.

It works pretty well and it's a relatively cheap solution.

Looking at the size of the speaker they seem similar to the Vescova diamond.

How do they compare to the Cassiano or the Berlina series?? Can you please comment on the sound?

Have they already fixed a msrp??

    Thanks!

Last weekend I went to a show. Vitus Audio was there. Using Gauder Speakers. It sounded wonderful. I did not ask what the set costs. I saw 4 huge mono amps.

While the set sounded great. I did think the Gauder speaker were a bit ugly. If I were to guess the speakers were the RC7.

Hans Ole Vitus is a very friendly man. All of his products are way too expensive for me.
