    Best Sound I've ever heard? The YG listening room

    Hi all;

    In the past month, I've taken a few moments to drop by and listen to some local talent on the Denver Front Range. On my way to the mountains, I went through Arvada, CO, on the west side of Denver, and stopped by the YG headquarters. I enjoyed a tour of the manufacturing and assembly area, then had a chance to spend some time in their listening room.
    On display were the Sonja XV's/Invincible subwoofer and Hailey 2.2's. They were driven by Nagra transports and DAC, streaming via Innuous statement, amplification courtesy of D'Agostino, and cabling by Nordhost. The room was also very comfortable and visually warm and pleasing. There was certainly a lot of attention to acoustic room treatments visible.
    Frankly, it was one of the best sounding rooms I've ever heard.
    My opinion on YG was that they were a bit uber obsessed with milling everything from a chunk of aluminum, just because, and that they were voiced more lean than my tastes.
    The sound was not lean in the least. The soft dome tweeter created beautiful extension and refinement, and there was outstanding inner detail without being analytical. In terms of bass, the sealed systems provided plenty of slam and dynamics.
    Of course, no detail was overlooked or expense spared to show off these speakers, but the end result was spectacular...
    Also, good to see Gary and Mike there, two Ayre alums. Knowledgeable and good people...

    Does YG have a new listening room. I went on that tour about 10 years ago and the listening room was just a large space. Did you take any pictures?

    That subwoofer is a real statement piece.... A statement like "I'm ready for a divorce" as it is installed into the living room....

    Seems to make a lot of sense to get the sub up off the ground, and a nice execution. Guessing it's pretty pricey, though!

    Also a good idea. I built opposing dual 10" subs as part of my swarm and I like the effect. I'd like the sonic effect even more if they were 4' and 6' off the ground I suspect, but I wouldn't like the look.
