Thanks Mike. Not nearly as crazy as my old room, but nice nonetheless . . .

Nice. I think your new room looks better. I like what you did on the ceiling.

Some more craziness from the prior room.

I do look forward to doing more cool stuff in my room now though.

Hello Jeff,

Congratulation on your new room space, it looks wonderful.
I’ve noticed that on your current system your source is constructed from a Macbook Air + MSB Discrete DAC.

As opposed to other components in your system (speakers, AMP, cables, DAC) it “feels” you have some compromise at the source part - as you choose to go with a relatively “controversial” source – a laptop computer.

a. Considering “what’s coming in” won’t improve later in the chain, do you ever consider moving from Macbook Air over to a dedicated audio server?
b. Just of curiosity, ever thought about getting the analog wagon?

Thanks.

Guy

Fabulous system, Jeff! Great to see Vivid in the mix.....will be interesting to hear more thoughts on how they compare to the Rockports and the Vimberg

Fascinating journey I must say!

Cheers

Hi Guy,

This is definitely a YMMV subject—so take these comments as they apply to me only. I have personally heard some great music servers, but each time I've returned the to MacBook I'm left wondering if there is a reason to upgrade. Admittedly, I am using the Pro USB interface from MSB, which electrically isolates the DAC from the source device. So this may impact what I hear. I have just always felt resources could be allocated in other places in my system for maximum gains. I do know many will feel differently and I respect those varied experiences!

Yeah, I'm just all digital. But of course I've thought about vinyl many times!

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Sujay,

Yup, the journey is really the thing here. As soon as I think it's time to settle on something for once and for all, I realise: "Where is the fun in that?!"

Thanks,
Jeff

Thank you for the reply Jeff.

As this is not the first time i hear good things regarding the quality of MSB Pro usb interface to produce such results, I guess one day I'll have to check it out myself.

Thanks,
Guy

This is an old photo from the install. A simple wood frame, Masonite cover, and stuffed with fibreglass insulation. Capped with foam on each end. Very inexpensive and effective.

The Vivids are outstanding!
