    Shunyata Santa

I have been using v1 Shunyata power cables on my NAIM as I’ve found Shunyata power cables work best on NAIM. So, I sold off my V1’s and got a full loom of Sigma V2’s!

Recommendation from someone who was initially skeptical about doing this: put those bad boys on a set of Shunyata DF-SS cable elevators. I just put all my PCs on these a couple months ago, and was fairly shocked at the improvement this broought.

    Re: Shunyata Santa

Well mine is much more modest. This morning I got a Sigma NR V2. With this cable my four main devices: DAC, Server, PreAmp and Amplifier have Sigma NR V2 cables. I still have one Sigma NR V1 available that I will use for the Innuos Phoenix USB and two Alfa NR V1s for the Farad Super3 and The Paul Hynes. Sorry I can't upload pictures.

    Congrats.

I've found Shunyata gear has great resale value.

That said, can you comment on is pending Shunyata price increase on 1/1/22?

If so, can you advise as to what products in their portfolio are increasing their MSRP?

    Thanks

Here’s how it works: some manufacturers give you notice, so you can speak to those on the fence and discuss with them so they can decide before the price increase.

Others, WHAM! - you wake up and there’s an email telling you that “effective immediately….” That pisses off dealers and consumers alike. A while back we had a guy looking seriously at a pair of speakers. He had been in twice to demo them. He was literally days away from pulling the trigger when I told him, “they just went up $3000”. You can imagine the F bombs and “screw them, I’ll buy something else” comments. Dealers might have been thinking about a demo or inventory.

The issue isn’t always with the price increase in and of itself, but more of the timing and giving people a month or so notice. 6 weeks is ideal IMO.

This is my two cents: if you’re on the fence on something, pull the trigger now, this month. I would say 80% are raising pricing as of Jan 1, 2022. We’ve had notices from most of our vendors of such: B&W, Focal, AQ, Nordost, CMS, etc., etc. All told us before Thanksgiving, giving a proper 6+ weeks notice IMO.

in the last example, if a dealer has inventory on-hand (new stock or dealer demo) in that situation, it would have been paid for by the dealer at the old price.

Should be sold at the original market price basis.

That is of course how it "should" work :-)

It’s a great question. But the rebuttal is replacement. If we have a Denali 6000s/v2 on hand and bought it at the old price and it sells after a price increase, we have to replace it at the new price. We are in a sense taking the hit for complacency. We took the risk to buy at the old price and “hold”.

@Mike: deleted my original response from last night due to an error on my part. I see your point regarding replacement being the rebuttal in the case that
old prices were honored. Happy Holidays!

So, when the price of oil goes up today why does the price of gas go up tomorrow and when the price of oil drops the week after that the price of gas drops a month later ........

Different market, different pricing models often much more volatile than weekly or monthly.

    Basically though,....because they can :-)

I didn't ask, but I assume that there are price increases across the board – the Shunyata employee I spoke with (whose name I forget) said that "...the price we pay for metal has gone up significantly..."

Considering your system, an extra $1K shouldn't be a make-or-break issue, especially for a component that seems to offer such a positive improvement. I pulled the trigger yesterday, & got a good trade-in from the dealer who sold me my Denali 6000T. (Sorry Mike, the offer was just too good...)

    Re: Shunyata Santa

For me, the issue with the new Everest is I only need four outlets. If they release a 4-6 port version then I might upgrade my current Triton/Typhon to Everest.

I was wondering about that, whether Everest is much of an upgrade on Triton/Typhon.

Would you consider simplifying and reducing your Shunyata boxes and cables and just plug all your devices into the Everest?

    An Everest plus Omega XC.

Do you have a local Shunyata dealer that would let you borrow an Everest to try in your own system to see if there is an improvement over your current setup?

No. I have three dedicated power lines. Each amp has its own power line.

    Re: Shunyata Santa

Shunyata Santa arrived early this year....in my Shunyata menagerie:

    1 x Denali 6000 v1
    3 x Sigma v1 Clock-50
    1 x Alpha v2 S/PDIF
    1 x Sigma v1 AES/EBU
2 x Alpha NR v2 power cables (arrived today)

    On order: Everest 8000.

I'm very surprised how light and flexible the Alpha v2 power cables are, they just ooze eye candy. Compared to my PS Audio Statement AC power cables which are almost as stiff as steel rebar.
