    Omega QRs into Everest?

how many people have gone this far with the SOTA stuff from Shunyata? ---i've added an Everest & Omega XC and consider it one of the best audio purchases i've made, but i wonder if the QRs stuff is needed on components into the Everest if you already have the benefits of the QR/BB as built into the Everest?
my amp, FWIW, is plugged into the Everest as well (my apartment has dirty power, and dedicated lines are not an option), so QR for the amp into the Everest is also a question.

Omega XC into the Everest, and that’s it. You don’t have to rethink this.

If you have additional money, then buy QR for amp(s), and QRs for sources (I.e DAC, etc)

    Re: Omega QRs into Everest?

I have been using also an Omega XC feeding an Everest and I am convinced it is one of the key reasons why my system sounds so incredibly good.

The other key reasons being the Mutec re-clocker driven by a cybershaft clock, the Devialet D1000 Expert Pro and the Wilson Benesch speakers. But none of these best in class components would be able to deliver their full potential without clean power.

I have had to get rid of the amazingly good Esoteric N-01XD because it was not at the same level of quality as the rest of the system. Again, the Omega + Everest is a dangerous combination because the weak link in a system will become more visible due to the best components being able to perform closer to their potential.

What are you replacing it with?

The Omega QR was specifically designed to provide QR/BB functionalatity in a power cord for folks to want to run their power cord directly to a wall receptacle, e.g. for power amps. The Omega XC you have is the best avaiable PC specifically for powering your Everest (and Denali v2.)

For your components plugged into Everest, the internal QR/BB device is intended for that. For one thing, it's a considerably larger device in the Omega QR PC, so you'll get the benefit of considerably larger QR/BB "capacity".

The N-01XD was replaced by the internal dac of the Devialet.

    Re: Omega QRs into Everest?

had the chance to try the QR and the QRs in my rig.
unfortunately i could not use the QR direct to wall in comparison; had to fashion together a passive 'feeder box' from the wall to the box to the QR to the amp (for purposes of comparing it vs my prior cord from amp direct to everest).

short answer: despite the presence of the everest, the DAC responded favorably to the QRs, taking the whole rig into a new level of liquidity while also recentering the tone towards an absolute middle ground.

but, when used on the transport, or the pre, or the amp, i found the improvements offered by the QR cords to be far from meaningful when compared to my home brew cables (which admittedly slay lots of $2k+ retail cables).

    takeaways:
    1) the everest + omega XC (which i consider REQUIRED if you're getting the everest) are a freaking bargain given how good their performance is, and how much they render connected components agnostic to AC cables when sourced from the everest
    2) DACs are *very* sensitive to cables. my dac (SMSL M400, $800) has an Omega SPDIF and a Omega QR-s on it. each made a large improvement in performance (and if you've never heard this dac, you're missing out).
    3) unless you're running massive monoblocks or a large class A amp, you might be better off running your amp into the everest, which is what i found vs running my existing cord into the wall, or the QR into a feeder box into the wall.

Are you saying you are using 12,000 US$ of cables for a 800 US$ Dac?

    Re: Omega QRs into Everest?

unfortunately yes. but thats only because the $800 dac outperformed ones that cost more i have first hand experience with. i wont post names.

a friend with a $40K dac likewise thought the omega SPDIF was preferred to all other SPDIFs. likewise with the QR-S (which he owns). ---and he also preferred the SMSL to a $20K dac he had.

with digital, measurements really can tell you the answer.

If the total expenditure gets you where want to be, what difference does it make how you get there? It's the result that matters.
