Re: Lots of Hats, Lots of Heart | Robert Harley tours Shunyata Research

Tip: a wonderful video,...bits of the story of Shunyata from before the founding, the patents, all the way to the present and some great looks at their SOTA manufacturing and testing facilities together with many of the people behind all the great products from sales, operations, design, assembly and shipping! Also some great discussion and facts about their ground-breaking innovations.

Well worth the time to see the entire video...

Love the fact the dogs also made it into the video Lots of Hats, Lots of Heart | Robert Harley tours Shunyata Research

Thanks for the video. Shunyata is not only a quality manufacturer, but also a company that values R&D at its heart. It’s not surprising that they are as successful as they are.

Now, only if I can get my ground cables soon enough. Lots of Hats, Lots of Heart | Robert Harley tours Shunyata Research

Loudest and coolest sound I've ever heard in my life was the noise the F1 cars made at the Monaco Grand Prix. All the sound bounced off the buildings surrounding the course amplifying it.

Never been to Monaco, but went to the British GP at Brands Hatch twice at the peak of the turbo era. Those cars had 1100 bhp on tap during qualifying. Here's a pic I took of Nigel Mansell in the Wiliams-Honda ripping through Dingle Dell at Brands. Taken with slide film with my Oly OM-1, slide film and manual focus lenses. No motor drive, no AI-based AF high-speed tracking, just...skill.

Great video. Amazing company and people.

    Longtime customer.

Wow what a sharp contrast between this and the Synergistic Research factory tour.

I didn't see patents hanging on their wall :-)

Looking forward to the Omega interconnects and speaker cables.

We have a Shiba too. As you well know, Shiba's were bred to hunt and need to RUN! Ours chases deer and bears in these Waywayanda Highlands. Of late however, he's been limited to short runs while we are outside in the daylight and tethered walks in our backyard state park. He took off for several nights a month or so ago. Also, approaching 11 he's developing some dementia. Anyway, to your observation, those pups do look a good bit over weight.

Notice the "Eiger" just past Caelin's left shoulder when he is seated. Not much of a secret.

I thought that was just the prototype for what became the production Everest.

Looks like its a 6 port Everest. To eventually replace the Denali 6000T V2 limited run.

Seems Shunyata is listening, people love the tower form factor but, don't need 8 outlets.

After watching this, I want to learn more about the different categories of proper grounding and what might help in my system.

I completely agree. This is the result of someone who really knows their subject domain.

As someone who taught a very complex set of disciplines (DFSS, TRIZ, Statistics and DOEs) to really bright (PhD-level) scientists, it took me years to master the ability to be able to do that. I knew I was starting to "master those domains" (no "pun" reference to Seinfeld intended) when I couse use fewer words and simpler language to convey key principles of those complex topics. But...it took me the better part of a decade to get there.

Ha! That's funny, I didn't even notice that. That looks cool...looks like a smaller Everest, perhaps with 6 outlets?

Yup, 6 outlets. Per Caelin: "It will be positioned below the new Denali 6000/T v2 in performance and feature"

Sometimes the boat springs a leak. It looks like EIGER is the worst kept secret of coming products.
So, to just clear up some of the rumors:

Yes, there will be a product called the "EIGER".
It is essentially a half the price, half the size version of the Everest.
It is a tower type, six outlet, power distributor that is shaped very similar to the Everest.
It's projected retail price will be US$4,995
It will be officially announced next year.

It will be positioned below the "limited edition" Denali 6000/T v2 in performance and features.

So, we will have a mountain range of tower power distributors listed below in order of price and performance.

    - EVEREST
    - DENALI
    - EIGER

I may post a family photo at a later date.

Very nice. Looks like a great product at a great price point.

It's also cool it has two GP-NR terminals, that would support a segmented Altaira system if folks wanted to go that route.

Anyone know what the round cable elevators are that Caelin is talking about just past the 30’ mark? They’re not listed on the Shunyata website. Perhaps just a one-off that they made only for their own use?

Did you notice that they were elevating Omega speaker cables? Not much was said but I wonder if they are meant to ship with the Omega when they are released. Maybe they will work with other cables too but nothing else was said AFAIK.

From watching the video, looks like these were likely designed for the forthcoming Omega speaker cables, which look to be quite large in diameter. If I were to hazard a guess, they'll also be available for sale separately, just as the DF-SS cable elevators are.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me, Kenny, because IIRC, the Omega PCs also ship with a set of 3 of the DF-SS cable elevators when you buy the Omega PC.

Having several rubber straps they could also come in handy when you are trying to keep several cables with some weight above ground since the DF-SS can only handle so much with one rubber strap.
