do you think the nagra-base could even be bad?
maybe i would like it for optical reasons, the dimensions are perfect, 2cm longer and 7 wider than the everest.
    i will decide tomorrow.
Once again, the answer is: it depends. Everyone has different types of floors made out of diffferent materials or construction methods; the entire set of devices function as a system, and because it is a system, the devices and other things, from a systems engineering perspective, can interact. I know that many folks in this hobby like like definitive answers, but in audio, there aren't any. You're going to have try different approaches.

Everest has superb vibration damping that Caelin engineered in. From the cabinet sides, to the receptables, to the footers and even the proprietary polymer that is on the bottom of the SS footers.

Given that Everest has superb intrinsic damping characteristics, it might be worth trying an isolation footers, e.g. Norm Varney's EVPs rather an mechanical grounding type of footer (e.g metal cones, spikes or Stillpoints) with it, either directly on the floor, or, on a good platform e.g a piece of slate, granite, rock maple, or bamboo.

    EVPs:

My experience in general with the Shunyata PDs is they like a nice, solid platform to rest on that has mass. You want the simplest setup that works, so this may be just placing it directly on the floor as Mike does, or in my case, I placed it on a rock maple board resting on the standard cork & rubber antivibration pads.

I'll likely get in some more EVPs as I need to put a set under my REL sub, and I'll try just placing those direclty under Everest, or placing them under my rock maple board in place of the cork & rubber anti-vibration pads.

    Here's a photo my current set-up:

With respect to your Nagra platform...try it and see what you think. Then, try it directly on the floor. Get a nice piece of hard wood, like maple, walnut, or bamboo, granite, or slate, and try it with that underneath Everest. Get some cork & rubber pads, or hard wooden blocks, and put those under the platform on the floor. Get some EVPs from A/V Roomservice and try those directly under Everest, or...as footers under the platform. Its likely going to sound different with all these different approaches. One of them will sound the best, but I can't tell you which ones will, you'll have to do some experimentation.

In that case, the concrete floor of my house would have infinitely greater mass than any other solid platform I care to think of that I might rest one of these things on.

I think that if you click on”Go Advanced” you’ll find an option to add an attachment. Cannot claim it will work, as I’ve never tried it.

Actually, Bud, its not hard, but you will need an account at an image hosting service like ImageEvent, SmugMug, or FlickR.
I'll put up a message shortly on how to do this.

No, this was changed a few weeks back because this function was causing a lot of error modes resulting in duplicate posts.

Re: Ascending to even greater heights

So...to post a photo or other image is actually pretty easy.

First, you need your photo "hosted" at an image hosting service e.g., FlickR or Imagevent, etc. I use ImageEvent personally. IIRC, a basic ImageEvent account is only about $24.95/year.

You can upload photos from to either service from your desktop to a gallery of your choice that you've created. Once your photo is uploaded to the image hosting service, there is a window (field in computer parlance) that lets you copy the image's URL address on the image hosting service.

Here's a gallery I created on ImageEvent for Stereo pix. You can upload to this web page any files you have resident on your computer.

If you click on an image the gallery, it will come up in the various sizes (dimensions that you have set up for the files for viewing, e.g. 800 pixels, wide, 1080 pixels wide, etc.) Go down to the bottom left, highlight (NOTE: shown in yellow) and copy the link in the lower part of the window as shown:

Once you have copied the link to image file, in the window here on AS, click on the picture link button along the top (fourth one from left in the right most panel of tools). Then paste your image link in between the [img][/img] brackets...
Final image linked here of a lifestyle shot of my audio rack...

No, I removed the cables for a clean look for this lifestyle type of photo.

If you look at speaker ad photos, you won't see any cables, either.

Interesting how tall the Shunyata power conditioner is. I only need three sockets so I hope they can make a smaller model.

It's a shame the D2000's are discontinued, I would be interested in a three socket version too.

It's not complicated - I just tried it, it's pretty much like every other site. You upload the photo via the attachment manager. Although on other sites you have the option to put up a thumbnail instead of the full photo. Not sure how to do that here.

Well my Everest is a week old. Truly an amazing product: orchestral density, spatial imaging, dynamics (looks like I bought a more powerful amp) and practically eliminating the digital hash left in the system. An absolute recommendation.
Just something negative, I have done several tests and in my opinion if you want to get the most of Everest, just use one of the outputs 1y2 and 7y8. For maximum quality it is a 6 output device, IMO

everest at home! this is very tall yet good looking.
the sound? i dont know because the powercord from the wall doesnt fit, the everest side seems to be us style. while output 1-8 is europe style. the dealer didnt tell me anything about that complication. and the shop is closed now.
i have seen now, there is an adapter available but i really dont want to run the everest with an adapter.
what should i do? is there no full europe version?

I would avoid doing that. Ask Caelin and he'll warn as well. Always avoid any additional contacts as it impinges on the current flow. Get the cable replaced for the correct one.

All Shunyata power distributors use 20A inlets. What you have is the full EU version.

    You need one of these:
Shunyata - 15Amp Cable to 20Amp Component Adapter (ea) | Shop Music Direct
It should be fine if you're using the Everest only for front end. If you also have your amps connected to the Everest, then you need to have your PC reterminated with a 20A IEC (for example: http://www.furutech.com/2016/05/19/13044/) or purchase a new PC to the wall with a 20A IEC.

    not very recommended i guess
That's not something that should ever be an option that you're considering. Don't mess with the Everest.

I cannot remember if Everest comes with a 20A stock power cord. Did you check the box again? As for me, I have an AQ Hurricane 20A cable from when I used it with Denali, so I didn’t really have to use stock 20A cable.

    Everest comes without cable.
You have bought an amazing device, my advice is not to spoil it with an inappropriate cable.

gracias francisco. i think you are absolutely right.
final solution might be omega xc. may be an adapter first until cash reloads.

A Sigma XC will work really well, also, and free up some cash...

the sound? i dont know because the powercord from the wall doesnt fit, the everest side seems to be us style. while output 1-8 is europe style. the dealer didnt tell me anything about that complication. and the shop is closed now.
i have seen now, there is an adapter available but i really dont want to run the everest with an adapter.
what should i do? is there no full europe version?
Hi, I think there is some confusion about the female power input on the Everest 8000. All of our power distributors use a 20A (C-19) power input connection. This is a universal connection in all countries. It requires a power cord with that same connection on the end of the power cord. The reason we use these is that they are more secure than 15A connections and present a solid connection. It is true you will need a 20A IEC fitted power cord for that application.

I would add that for a product like the Everest, the power cord from Everest to the wall determines system performance to a larger degree than power cords to electronics. This is because the power cord to the wall supports the current for multiple components. For each additional component you plug into Everest, the power cord to the wall takes on a cumulatively larger role. We recommend Alpha XC power cord or larger, depending on the system context and the amount of current being drawn through Everest.

If we can be of any help with further specifics or recommendations, please don't hesitate to contact us via phone or e-mail at your convenience.

Thanks, I hope this is of some help.

    Best regards,

    Grant
