    Re: D'Agostino Momentum M400

After a three month wait, my M400's arrived and shortly thereafter they were installed and powered up. The upgrade did nothing to reduce their weight! After the grunting was over, I settled into the sweet spot and selected a playlist that had my "go to" tracks for system evaluation. The M300's were already the best amplifier (solid state or tube!) I have ever heard in my system. Would the improvement justify the $15K upgrade cost? You bet - right out of the box. Wider and deeper soundstage. More contrast between sound and background. If they improve as they break in I fear I shall never leave my music room. I am definitely biased towards SS amps and even more so to Dan D'agostina designs since I've had several over the past 25 years. For me, in my system, in my room, with my favorite tracks and music, I have heard no better sound.

Sweet Cincy! Been reading a bit about em after Axpona. Massive power supply and double the current to the output stage of the 300. As good as they were, the dynamics must be off the charts in these babies.

I was with a friend on Thursday who had his mono's upgraded to 400's. One point he made was how much hotter the units run after the upgrade. Not as much heat generated as his previous AR 750's but still much warmer than 300's.

I received the amp on Monday. The S250 is superior to the S200. And, the improvements are noticeable right away. Quieter, better detail, sweeter but not colored and moré dynamic. Well worth the upgrade!

    Hi ritmo,
I have a good offer on the s250, and still hesitating.
I own w.a sabrina, wich will pair the dag s250.
While i m sure it will excel in lows, highs, dynamic, transparency, seperation etc.... i m not sure on the mids.
I m searching for an amp wich will enjoy me for a long time, musicality being my first priority.
Can you give me some details on the mids pls

    sksouri,

The S250 is a supremely musical amp and a terrific match for Wilson speakers. One of the key attributes of the amp is the midrange. If you are able to get the S250 for a good price, get it. You will not be disappointed.

    Thks for the reply,
If you had to compare it s mids to a good tube amp? Is it with all the harmonics, texture , full with body?

I haven't heard the Koda personally (although I've heard only wonderful things about it) I can't say how it would match the Momentums, sorry.

It is too bad you can't audition that pairing. I have never heard the Koda unit so I am no help. I do know of a few individuals who pair Momentums with ARC pre amps. They seem happy.

Any idea what the Koda output impedance is on the K-15EX preamp?

    edit:

If I searched correctly it's way under 100. I am sure it will be perfectly wonderful.
