Accuphase DACs and CD transports
May be in the market for a new DAC. I have a Simaudio 300d Dac and works fine. Since i have purchased the A-70 and the 3850, i am considering continuing to convert my system from simaudio to accuphase. Any opinions on the Accuphase digital gear?

For mine it's something you need to hear in your own system.Get a demo component & live with it as long as possible.

Re: Accuphase DACs and CD transports
I will ask the local Japanese hifi shops and see if they do it. I did get to listen to accuphase 720p in the shop. Sound great, but not sure worth it since i do not listen to many SACDs. May look at the DC 37 since the components are similar to the dac components in the 720p.

Re: Accuphase DACs and CD transports
Sources from Accuphase are really great but they sounds on another elevel with full Accuphase system. So Harris I am sure you will be very pleased.
The thing is that some older models are playing SACD better than CD. But 720 player and flagship 900/901 are really great with every single format, no matter if with CD, SACD or files. If you are playing files mostly then you should try DC-901. With all Accuphase system it could be the best choice.

Thank you Vagabundo. Yes, they Accuphase folks said the same, but the cost is a bit expensive even to my liking. We will see.

Re: Accuphase DACs and CD transports
You can make yourself feel better on paying for Accuphase in Japan knowing their stuff is 2-3x more expensive in the US and Europe.

Re: Accuphase DACs and CD transports
Anatta, ie..i bought Accuphase here in Japan. I love the Accuphase equipment. I am A/B comparing my Simaudio preamp to the Accuphase for the past couple days. Honestly, playing vinyl sounds pretty good through the Moon, but digital is by far better through the Accuphase. I can only explain this by stating my phono stage is also a simaudio, thus plays plays better with another simaudio component. I do not know. Unless i need to change the impedance to match the Accuphase, but i do not know.

Re: Accuphase DACs and CD transports
Hello,
I have compare Marantz SA7S1 + Mark Levinson n°360S(DAC) VS Accuphase DP-550 at home and without my clock.
I'm agree that Accuphase has a sound like analogic than the combo SA7S1 + DAC 360S.
I have all cable in Furutech Lineflux. If I use Van Den Hul The Second with the combo SA7S1 + DAC 360S, it's more analogic but I loose details and dynamics...There is less treble and bass. It's very strange.
So, I keep my SA7S1 and my DAC 360S...I prefer a sound more detailed.
With the clock, it's night and day : Marantz SA7S1 VS (Marantz SA7S1 + DAC 360S + Grimm CC1).
CD Player Accuphase is very smooth and so analogic.
I can choose for you your sound. Everybody has his choices.
If I have more money, I buy Accuphase or Metronome Technologie and I keep the 2 CD player.
I have too an Bluray player : DENON DVD A1UD.
I use it when I hope more analogic sound with my DAC 360S.
So, listen and do the best choice for your system.
Accuphase is building like a tank, but the sound Accuphase is very subtil.Marantz SA7S1/GRIMM AUDIO CC1/MARK LEVINSON 360S+TECHNICS SL1210 MKII/ORTOFON X1-MC/VPI CLASSIC 3 in rosewood/Audio-Technica ART-9/ESOTERIC E03+TAG MC LAREN T32R+JEFF ROWLAND CORUS+JEFF ROWLAND MODEL 625+Magnepan 3.7i+Cables line: all Furutech lineflux+power cord DIY

Re: Accuphase DACs and CD transports
I have never heard the famous ACCUPHASE sound. The DAC that I prefer so far is the NAGRA HD DAC. Very musical but very precise.
--> Is ACCUPHASE in the same emotional territory than NAGRA ? Their TOL DP-950 (CD/SACD) + DC-950 (DAC) is at the same price than the NAGRA HD DAC + NAGRA CDT !
