    ARC ref5se match ayre mx-r 20?

    Hi all,

    first post here ....

My current system I mainly listen to is Thales TT - whest Titan pro - ARC ref5se - ARC ref 75se - Magico S1

The new mx-r 20 is really interesting to me and I would like to know your opinion whether replacing my tube ref75se to the mxr20 will really push up the potential of my system especially towards the magico S1s. I particularly like the small footprint n sleek look.

i am considering a "great" SS mono or stereo power amp that can last me a long time in case I wanna upgrade in the future.

Obviously most of us want to maximize the value for the money and the ayres are not really cheap.. Was told to consider Karan Acoustics KAS600 but was advised to get the pre-amp as well for total synergy...might be cheaper than the mxr20

    your view please..,

    thanks guys

Until recently I had an MX-R and a Ref 5 SE. Amazing combination. If you go that route you will be extremely satisfied.

I would think that The MX-R 20 would work great with the Magico S-1s. Magico's love a bunch of power and the Ayre has that and still has a very sweet midrange.

No, I am using a Doshi v3.0 preamp. As much as I liked the Ref 5SE, I am enjoying this more.

Nice, is the Doshi single ended, RCA only and what adapters are you using?

No. The Doshi pre is fully balanced but you can specify which inputs you want. I had it built with 3 balanced and 1 single-ended input. It also had home theater bypass and the unit does not have to be on for that to work which is a big plus over the Ref 5SE.
