    Re: Rmaf 2015

Since I skipped last year I was planning on attending this year. I still haven't made up my mind. I would miss a home football game and I would have to leave for home Sunday morning as we have tickets to see Mark Knopfler Sunday the 4th. They really screwed up my plans by moving it to that first weekend rather than around the 10th-12th timeframe.

    Hi!

Yes, we have kept the distribution business in Brazil, as German Audio, and opened the store in La Jolla, as Alma Music and Audio.

We carry most of the same brands in both markets. It'd be pointless to try to sell what you don't really like, right?

Audiopax is a Brazilian brand originally, and we picked up their US distribution. They've also moved assembly to the US (California), which helps everybody!

Oh, thanks for the good wishes! Hope to see you around!

    Cheers,
    Alex

Seems that no more rooms at the show rate are available at the Marriot Tech Ctr. First time ever got closed out for me so booked across the street.

Planning to visit again this year. Likely do a day trip down and back home unless the show offerings are more than I can (or have energy) to do in a full day's visit.

Take my word, you will need all three days to visit all the rooms at RMAF. If only a few are of interest, that's a different story.

    Re: Rmaf 2015

Yeah, I don't try to visit every room just because some of the offerings would never fit into my listening space (WAF or physical size....some of the esoteric horn speakers come to mind) or are so far out of my price range that I could never justify them. I tend to focus on what is actual reality (current or near future) for me and my listening environment.

Just booked my room. To Myles point, the discounted block of rooms is sold out already. The Marriott has other rooms available but at a premium. Will be staying at a different hotel nearby.

Yeah, $229 a night. For others who haven't booked yet, go the RMAF 2015 webpage and there are other hotels listed nearby that are a lot cheaper (Hilton and Hyatt).

I was quoted $269.00 a night today (28 July). Thankfully I had more than enough Marriott reward points to book my room so it's essentially 'free.' I guess the moral to the story is that in the future you better make your reservations way sooner if you want to stay at the Marriott which is of course quite convenient. I also think that either Marriott is setting up a smaller block of rooms at the discounted price or they are just selling out the block of rooms reserved for the show way faster than they used to.

They must have just recently filled up the lower priced room at the Mariott. I made my reservation one week ago.

    NOTE:
Make sure you are calling the individual listed on the RMAF site. Last week I tried going thru the Marriott website I would normally use and was quoted those ~$250 rates. That is when I used the contact person noted on the RMAF site and was given the lower rates.

Are you talking about the contact info listed for Marjorie? Since she doesn't work for Marriott, how does she reserve a room for you at the show rate? I'm a member of the Marriott Silver Elite club and when I contacted them to make the reservations, there were none available in the block of rooms set aside for RMAF at the discounted price.

I did. I am coming in Thursday and leaving Monday and they only had bookings at the negotiated rate for the first and last day. The other days were at the rate quoted by Mark. Of course one can always try closer to the show and they may have gotten some cancellations and openings.

The Hilton is right across the street from the Marriott. it's just not as convenient as being in the Marriott-especially if you eat some food that doesn't agree with you and you can't duck into your own room to take an emergency hillbilly dump. That's never happened to me of course-just sayin'...

Wow, I think I called the contact at Marriott late last week and they still had rooms.

Well, just booked at the Hilton across the way. Now to book the flights...

I booked right way because Marjorie announced that rooms were running low on her FB page. Looks like there will be a big turnout this year. With the economy doing better -- know my business has been slower because more clients than ever have been going on vacation -- or staying out at their summer homes.

Are you staying at the Marriott or the Hilton Myles?

I was able to get a corporate rate at the Hilton to save a few bucks..,:-)

I ended up getting a room at another marriott a couple of miles away.

Now the wait for the final list of companies and gear that will be demoed at the show this year. Typically around show date minus 30 days.

No. The person to contact is Deborah Gimberline. Who is the Marriott contact for RMAF. 303-740-2590. I got that right off the RMAF site.

The rates are only real low for Fri- Sat-Sun. The rates are about $50 higher for Wed-Thursday-Mon

Uh guys Marjorie Baumert is THE lady who runs RMAF. Think Marjorie knows what's going on when she says rooms are running out at the Marriot Tech Center and to book right away.
Had nothing to do with who to book with.

You said the woman listed on the RMAF webpage was the contact and the only woman I saw was Marjorie which I previously mentioned to you. I was trying to book the room at the Marriott for Friday and Saturday which were the cheaper dates according your post above, but I was quoted $269.00 per night for those two nights. That's why I used points instead.

That is why I included the link to the RMAF site in the post which lists Ms. Gimberline for rooms. I too was stunned when I initially tried to use the Marriott for a room.

On the RMAF site you had drill down from ----->Attending------>Accomodations

I don't use points for rooms when the rates are this low.

    I don't consider $269 per night "low."

+1. However, I booked at another marriott property about than 2 miles away for less than half of that. I don't mind spending more for a room if on vacation at a resort. For this weekend, it's really about getting a comfortable bed and a good shower in a safe and convenient location. I won't be in the room more than 8 hrs per day. No real need to splurge.

We are down to 4 weeks before the audiofest in Denver.

Interestingly, the RMAF site is typically updated 30 days before with the final list of exhibitors and seminars. But, there is still not a list of seminars published.

    You'll love it!

Try to attend some of the seminars with panels - judging by the videos on Youtube, they are great.
