Any new Esoteric owners?
Any new Esoteric owners today? Perhaps someone with a new K-05 in black, playing through his big Westministers?
I'm still dreaming of a K-01x.

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
Mike.......I enjoy my Esoteric K-03 SACD/CD/DAC. I like it so much I wound up purchasing two. The Esoteric K-03 outperformed my McIntosh MCD1100 players in direct A/B comparison. It delivers not only a more focused and delineated sound stage, a firmer and more richly textured bass frequency range, it also reproduces clearer resolution in the upper frequency range that refelcts more space between instruments and voices. In addition, the K-03 has a blacker background from which the faintest of sounds appear without being masked or smeared. I am completely satisfied with the Esoteric K-03's performance. Now that the new K-03X and K-01X players are available, pre-owned K-03's are going for $6K or there about (retail $11,650) which makes it a tremendous buy.
If a person is not interested in DSD over USB, the Esoteric K-03 is an extremely attractive value in my opinion. Since I have no interest in DSD over USB, I can still enjoy 24Bit/96KHz and 24Bit/192KHz high-res downloads over USB and get my DSD enjoyment from SACD's. It is simpler, doesn't gorge my hard drive with huge files, and sounds equally thrilling. The Esoteric K-03 represents the sweet spot in performance and value for me.

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
I think Esoteric are coming out with X models for the K-05 and K-07 this summer. I am going to give those a look, prolly K-05X as I like the idea of an integrated CD/SACD player with digital inputs, allowing use with a PC or music server as source as well. Seems to me to allow max flexibility in terms of digital sources including spinning both CD and SACD discs.

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
That's beautiful - like jewelry.
I was all set to go with the Esoteric, until T+A announced the PDP3000HV with completely separate sections for PCM and DSD (requiring even separate power cords and IC's). I'm very happy with it, but I'm certain I would have been equally happy with a K-01/03.My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
My Esoteric D-02, using as a preamp direct to my amp.
The digital inputs for the USB and Optical work flawlessly.
But for the last few months, the digital RCA1 and RCA2 inputs keep cutting out sporadically (on for a minute, cuts out for several seconds, on again).
At first I thought it might be 1 of the digital RCA inputs, but it seems both are doing the same thing?
Do you think this is something in the DA circuit that is doing this, or something that needs to be changed in the Menu options?
I am puzzled why the other digital inputs work fine, but both digital RCA inputs are cutting in and out?
I am getting the same intermittent cutting out when it is connected to my DVD/BlueRay player and my DirecTV (both RCA digital out to the D-02).
Have tried different cables and sources.
Any suggestions?

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
About to pull the trigger on a used Esoteric DV60. I won’t use this for video, but I think it is an excellent SACD and redbook player. Since I am primarily an analog devotee, this multi use machine...which is built like a tank, will meet my needs...plus the price these go for nowadays is a steal, imo.

Save your pennies and get D1X. Failing that, D05X would be nice. D02 would also be nice. Spoiled for choice.

I'd like to compare K1X against the D1X/P1X combo.
I'm still waiting to place my D1X order, I need to sell my Magico Q3 first.

ummmm, well, I already own M3's.....
A pair of MRack-3 is next on the shopping list, followed by a pair of Grandioso D1X. Then I'll be done. Maybe. Shunyata is also on my shopping list but I've given up on that. Too difficult to buy.

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
I've owned M3 for a year and I've been trying to sell my Q3 for a year. I can get Shunyata digital cables in Australia (I own Sigma Clock50 and Sigma AES/EBU) but I can't buy any of the power conditioners here (I want Typhon QR and Triton v3), and I can't buy any of the Shunyata power cables. I've also given up on buying a Denali, nobody can sell me one.

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
After upgrading from an Esoteric K-03 to an Esoteric K-01X I remain very satisfied with the sound and performance. In my opinion, the K-01X is a comfortable and pleasurable waypoint in the endless incremental performance bumps Esoteric brings to market.

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
Well, they aren't really endless incremental bumps in performance from Esoteric. The increments are well defined and eventually you get to the top dog. Wherever you land in the Esoteric performance range, whether that be entry level or top dog or somewhere in between, at the respective price points you're bound to be happy with your choice (from a P1 owner).

Another way to bump up the performance of any Esoteric or other device that takes 10ohm master clock input;
Cybershaft 10 M clocks : UPOCXO-OP20A/OP21A

Re: Any new Esoteric owners?
Just saw this thread ... Joined the Esoteric club last year and after trying several different models ended up with the P-02X/D-02X combo. Still enjoying it a year later so no regrets! Will add a clock at some point.
