Great review. The D-1/G-01 combo is awesome! I would love to slide those babies into my rack.

Re: Review of Esoteric Grandioso P1/D1/G-01 stack from UltraAudio.com...
When not using an external clock, when D1 are connected via ESLINK, will one behave as a master clock and the other slave? And if using a P1, would you connect the clock out of a D1 to the P1?
I'm contemplating life without a clock....perhaps buy a P1 at closeout pricing now, and D1X in a few months time. Just wondering how that combination would sync without an external clock. I'd be selling a N-01/G-02X to make the financials for the upgrade more sensible. Dealers have (or mine has) local market pricing on the new models now and I have a quote (meaning the new models should be available very soon).
And following on from that. If I was to buy a Cybershaft clock with a single output, connecting it to the clock IN of a D1X then all 3 units (P1 + 2 x D1X) would be sync'd to that clock (i.e. no benefit in buying the Cybershaft with three 10MHz outputs).

My Grandioso P1 arrived today. It does DSD over AES/EBU to N-01. Nice. A long night awaits.

Thanks. My first thought is, how can P1X be any better?

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
