SLP-98L Question
Guys...I'm doing my ritual/habitual switch, between IAs and seps. I have an LM 211 coming very soon...but already have an eye on the horizon.
I'm considering an SLP-98L (or ARC LS-26, and will be posting a discussion in the pre-amp thread...if you want to weigh-in)
My question is...are there believed to be any upgrades between the "old" model, and "new; other than the faceplate?

Re: SLP-98L Question
Thanks Steve; I like manufactures, who offer and do their own upgrades. But what I was really asking was...is there any reason to buy a "new style" SLP-98L, over an old one? Any build reason?

Re: SLP-98L Question
Hi ,
I was a Cary Audio user and former distributor in my country .As you were told before there are internal parts changes so nothing to say about that.
My 2 cents , is that after a long time swaping tubes , the best results were with NOS Mullard ECC33 .
Enjoy.Chilean distributor for : Zu Audio , Pass Labs , Verastarr , ATC loudspeakers , Chord Electronics, Reimyo ( Combak) , Furutech , Devialet and Gryphon Audio .

Re: SLP-98L Question
I do know that they have "upgraded" some internals in some of their long-standing products, such as the SLP-05, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 98 has gotten the same treatment. Have you emailed Cary with this question? I have owned Cary products for eight years now, and have always found them helpful and responsive.

Re: SLP-98L Question
I had a jaguar red slp98 with the jensens. It was a Sweet Little Pre. If you don't have the Jensen upgrade if consider that. Otherwise, I, personally wouldn't sweat it. Maybe what used to be called (still?) the F1 upgrade? It wasn't for me, I thought it took away the sweet tone that made that model special, but others liked it.
