Great setup! Any inkling to try a vinyl source?
Also, have you compared your PC front end (JRiver) to Mac (iTunes)? I just made the switch to JRiver. It has some

Re: The Music Matters...
Holy Sh!t was the first thing out of my mouth when I saw the pictures. That is a gorgeous room. Those big, beautiful Pass amps look like eyes staring out at you!
I have a few questions for you.
Is that a painting on the wall or is it some type of room treatment? Perhaps both.
Have you tried other digital pieces before arriving at the Bel Canto front?
Tara Labs cables have always intrigued me. You obviously like them. What do they do that others fell short of?
Lastly, what's with the brass weights on top of the amps?
Thanks for sharing with us.Doug

Re: The Music Matters...
Thanks Doug,
The backdrop is a computer generated image printed on a large scale printer. The material is very thin and does not serve as a sound treatment just for looks. Behind it I have a very heavy curtain and a couple of bass traps behind the curtain as there is a large window that I’m trying to minimize it's influence on the sound.
I have had a Benchmark DAC1 before but I thought the sound from it was too sterile and a little thin. I owned an Esoteric SACD player before with the Burr-Brown DACs which I liked the sound of so I made sure that the next DAC I purchase would use the Burr-Brown DAC chips which the Bel Canto does. I also like the idea of having a separate converter and connecting it to the DAC via a ST Glass fiber.
The Tara Labs cable has a sound signature that seems to pair up very good with the Pass Labs and Bel Canto equipment.
The brass weight is to minimize any vibration the the top cover may generate as it’s made of a thin aluminum sheet.

Thanks for the feedback George. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into your room and it shows. I like how you've treated the room but still let it have personality. I've been in an over treated room before and although it did sound good, it was missing that sparkle. It must be a real treat to spend time there.

This is my FLAC file storage, a WD My Passport 2TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. It's attached to the laptop USB3 port which is my music server via the Wireworld Starlight USB3 cable. The brass disc is to assist on limiting vibration. I also attached 4 rubberized feet to the bottom of the case. I believe every little bit helps with the (SQ) sound quality.

Thanks for the reply Paul. Ya, chair is like floating in midair listening to wonderful music.

Yeah, I can see those acoustic panels in the wall behind your chair.
* What I couldn't see was the distance from your ears to your speaker's drivers.
And nine feet is a nice reasonable distance for your type of loudspeakers.
-> I would go for eight feet (experimentation). Perhaps it can improve just a little tiny bit.

Re: The Music Matters...
I've handcrafted these dampening blocks out of solid Leopard wood as its nature being hefty in weight provides good dampening properties for the lids on my Pass amps. I've seem to hear a bit more organic sound with fantastic details. I used my CNC machine to rout out the logo and cut out the shape and then I applied several coats of satin polyurethane finish.
Here is a short vid of the CNC machine at working for this project.

I've have recently added 2 additional 20amp circuits. They makes 4 dedicated 20amp circuits. I also just received a Shunyata Triton for the front end which is plugged into one of the dedicated 20amp circuits. I now have one amp & Summit speaker plugged in to each BPT power conditioner which each are plugged in to their own dedicated 20amp circuit. The SQ is even better now. Feels like the system can really breath now and not straining to put out some high quality SPLs. Proper power is so important!!!
