    Why no new Cary gear?

Seems after Dennis, hardly anything tube amplification wise has been released. Same for preamps, integrateds, etc.

i owned an SLP98 in 2000 and its still a current item- one of my favorite preamps admittedly.

They have some things in the pipeline. Their new streamer looked and sounded good.

Personally, I just bought a pair of CAD 211 FE amps (red/black) and the SLP-05. I'm one happy camper!!

I've thought about rolling the 845's, and probably still will. Any suggestions on which 845's to go for?

What's the issue with the dual chassis? The cable connecting the two is about 6 feet long. You can stack them or put them on separate shelves. I did roll the 6SN7's on the SLP-05. Put in some Sylvanias circa 1950.

Much warmer, while still retaining enough detail. More midrange bloom, and way way smoother on top.

I wanted to try the treasures, but they wouldn't fit.

The 845's that I know of are:

    Shuguang 845
    Shuguang 845B
    Shuguang 845C
Shuguang 845T (also called the Shuguang Natural Sound)
Psvane 845TII (This look's like it's the same tube as the Shuguang 845T)
    Psvane WE845 (Western Electric replica)
    KR Audio 845

Did the Cary's come with the standard Shuguang 845? My amp came with those and I replaced them with the 845B's. The B's have better internal components (more rugged) and do have a nicer sound than the regular 845's. What I've noticed is a richer, more musical sound and a smoother delivery. The price isn't a deal breaker either. I may try the Shuguang 845T next but I would really love to check out those KR Audio tubes. They look like some really nice tubes but at $1395.00/pr. they're out of my budget.

Here's a cool video of how they're made:

Doug the 845TII has my attention right now. Trying to figure out how the 845T/TII differs from the Psvane.

I gotta' believe they're made in the same factory. Maybe Psvane picks the cream of the crop. I don't think the extra $80 for the Psvanes gets you a better tube. Plus I can't figure out how to order online from them. You can get the Shuguang T's from The Tube Store in Canada and they'll arrive in a week. I ordered my 845B's from them and was very happy with the service.

Re: Why no new Cary gear?

Most people love the Bs- they trade treble extension for bass/punchiness. I personally hate them. The Cs are the opposite (and literally bright as hell) and are good for warmer 845 amps.

my favorites were a cryo'd A tube as i recall. Took the glare out of the mids, leaving a more natural tube. The T was out of production when i had several 845 amps.
