    Goldfinger Statement

So....a big night for me. Had audiophile friends over tonight. Listened to vinyl on Clearaudio Innovation Wood with Benz LP-S on Graham Phantom Supreme II and on AMG V12 with Miyajima Kansui. Vote back and forth but ultimately that Kansui sounded meatiest and most listenable so replace Benz LPS with Goldfinger especially since graham phantom has ability to swap out arm wands.

I was torn because I liked resolution and openness of Benz more than Miyajima but wasn't sure if difference was cartridge, arm, table or wires.

We took a group vote. Gotta love audiophile gatherings! We replaced Benz. Wow! Goldfinger Statement raised my system to true world class sound. Benz LP-S on steroids. Timing and pace and decay to die for. No detail left behind but very musical not analytical. And holy cow A WALL OF SOUND. Like someone brought in Magneplanar 20.7 speakers. Big big sound.

So happy with my friends and with my system.

Indeed, there are only so many DAC shoot-outs a guy can read. It's nice to hear about cartridge shoot-outs!

    Big +1

Have about 50 hrs on mine and I can hear clearly why a lot would say this is arguably the best cart out there. I would say definitely among the top 3 carts to choose from depending of course on system matching.

I sure the wife will be happy to hear you've reached the pinnacle in sound reproduction, and no further upgrades will be necessary.

Perhaps for the meantime but something new and better will come a long soon and we audiophiles never stop in upgrading and we always develop that itch to scratch

Darin... Big Congrats! It's a colossal cart. Big sound, wall of sound are good descriptors form this cart. I think I used big sound just the other day. Of course the resolution and musicality is to die for.

Now that we have this thread, I have a question for other GFS owners. What is your preferred curve? I'm currently using the Clearaudio recommended curve of 75mm (Clearaudio Alignment Tool. There is a great article on Vinyl Engine). Great for new vinyl especially 45rpm but it is a compromise for older LPs.

    Re: Goldfinger Statement

Are you guys still using your Clearaudio Goldfinger ? I also have clearaudio gear and just put a soundsmith carmen mkii on a retro turntable .I like the science behind the moving iron cart so when I can afford a Clearaudio Goldfinger how would it sound against a Soundsmith Hyperion from a technical point of view? As for comparing sound that is too objective apart from both would sound Excellent..
