    Windows 7 forgotten password?

Hi, I am trying to help someone who cannot access his computer because it will not accept his password? Or he forgot his password? The PC he bought from CostCo did not come with a System OS disc.
So he cannot make a reset disc. Any ideas? He called Microsoft Help and they are supposed to be getting back to him?

Thanks for any ideas in advance.
    John.

There is a pc of software called Winternals that includes a utility called Locksmith. Purchase or get other way and create a boot disk if it is a download. All kinds of things you can do to recover from issues.

According to About.com he should be able to make a Windows 7 System Repair Disc from any Windows 7 OS PC.

Hi thanks for your reply. He does not have any windows software, did not come with the computer. So he is unable to make that disc.

    Thanks,
    John.

    Re: Windows 7 forgotten password?

John, the article said that the disc could be made from any Win 7 PC. So if he has access to another PC, perhaps a friend, he can burn a disc from that and use it in his.

Sorry I'm not a PC guru so hopefully more will chime in here.

Look into somethink called "ophcrack" on the web. It is a free download for windows including windows 7. Essentially you would make a usb or cd boot disk using it. It is necessary to have computer boot from cd or usb before the hard drive.. It will fish out the password.
