Re: What are you listening to tonight ?
John Coltrane, "Coltrane's Sound". I am really impressed with the quality of the recent vinyl releases from Rhino. The surface noise is basically nonexistent, almost, but not quite on a par with the silence from MoFi's SuperVinyl. Of course, that would mean nothing if the musical content wasn't up to par, as it most definitely is with this album. Highly recommended.

Steve

Re: What are you listening to tonight ?
Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers With Thelonious Monk. This is another Atlantic recording, re-released by Rhino. Very silent vinyl, but light on the acoustic bass, which seems to be in the background, as I've found on a few, but not all, of these releases by Rhino. I think it was the original recording technique used by Atlantic and is not a result of Rhino and their new processes.
