B.M.C. PureVox
Have been interested in these for a while, and finally pulled the trigger on a demo pair... should have them in a week. They don't seem to be very well known and a search here yielded no results for any BMC product.
The quasi-bipolar design and AMT tweeters intrigue me. Right after ordering the PureVox I realized it's been almost exactly seven years since I got my (used) Vivid V1.5s which I still like. Guess I had the seven-year speaker itch.
Damped aluminum body; SpeakON as well as conventional binding posts; crossover in the stand/leg; a switch which allows slight variation in sound.
Pictures are clipped from the web... can post more when I receive my pair.

Very interesting. It would be interesting to hear them. Not sure what other speakers they might sound similar to.

Re: B.M.C. PureVox
Cool design. Is that the same German company, which produces also DACs and amps?

Heard these a couple years ago at California Audio show with BMC amp, pre and DAC. Sounded pretty good from the memory.

Yes... Have read good things about their amps as well.
They make one other speaker, Arcadia, which is a huge jump in price and size.

Re: B.M.C. PureVox
Those speakers look really interesting. The rear/up-firing drivers should throw out a very holographic soundstage.
I have a pair of Audiokinises Zephrin 46 speakers with a similar type rear /up-firing driver compliment. Coined by James Romeyn as "LCS"
Late Ceiling Splash. This approach is different from just rear firing drivers. It plays off of creating a delay of up to 10ms of the original signal by "directed" reflection. Works really well. Totally enveloping.
Will be interested to hear your opinion of these speakers.
I have two friends that own the BMC Pre-amp/DAC. It is a very clean, fast (PRAT)sounding piece that is very engaging. My System

Re: B.M.C. PureVox
I read everything I could about the PureVox, including some German reviews using Google translate. They all mentioned the holographic soundstage. Strange that the company's products are not better known here.
I'll admit that I only really consider speakers that also have a (to me) visual appeal. Couldn't live with a regular rectangular box no matter how it sounded. But I'm just a dumb artist and a slave to aesthetics... ha.Antipodes EX…Schiit Yggdrasil...Coda 07x…Peachtree GaN400...Vivid V1.5

Re: B.M.C. PureVox
They arrived Monday, and I'm running them in. Shouldn't need too much time since they were demo models. Still playing with placement, need to try the tone adjustment, and then I'll take new room correction measurements for the Room Perfect feature on my Lyngdorf amp.
PureVox is a little shorter but heavier than the V 1.5s; has a slightly larger woofer size, and more cabinet volume.
Listening impressions to come later... for now some pics.

Re: B.M.C. PureVox
Luckily there are a few options out there for people like me. It seems that boxes became the norm because they are easier and cheaper to make. Nothing in nature that makes sound is box-shaped after all.
I actually prefer the look of the Vivids to BMC, but both are examples of form following function.
The Vivids will do TV setup duty for now, replacing my beloved 1990's "snowmen"... rare unibody Blue Room MiniPods. Laurence Dickie had a hand in both of these designs. I will never sell those MiniPods. They will stay on display or I'll figure a way to use them in the studio.
