Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary Model Speakers...
...Diggin' the heck out of these. Anyone else have them or the regular Super HL 5+? Wonderful sounding speakers. Especially for my room and application. I'm particularly liking the super tweeter on the 40th Anniversary model. Beautiful, seamless, smooth, crossover which also helps make the super tweeter sound smooth and clear and not strident at all. Perfectly designed with just the right amount of top end. Not too much, not too little. Just right. Superb synergy with my entire system (Pass INT 250, MSB Discrete DAC and Roon Nucleus). Love these speakers. That is all.

Everything I read tells me I would enjoy Harbeth. I am a big fan of British speakers!

Same here, I love the SEAS tweeter. Almost a 2 decades ago, I used their reference tweeter in mobile audio with such success in SQ competition. A local dealer to me has them in a demo room, but Ive been so good not to ask to demo it as I just stood up my current system. I’m weak in the knees for some harbeths.

Re: Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary Model Speakers...
I owned super HL5's I never really thought the super tweeter stood out, in hindsight I probably would have been just as content with 7es (one less crossover point, less caps resistors and inductors) The fact your speakers mesh with your room and system is most of the battle, sounds like it checks all the boxes for you. I noticed the surround and spider loosened up on the woofer after about 300 hrs and the low bass improved.

That's great!! I'm happy for you. I'm enjoying my fairly new Harbeths' also. I've owned many fairly nice speakers. The Harbeths' are non fatiguing, and smooth. They may not have some of the characteristics of others, but you can enjoy them for hours on end.... You and Mike did a great job selecting the best equipment for your needs!

Re: Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary Model Speakers...
Yes, I'm very happy with mine too. Perfect fit for my room and the synergy with the rest of my components is outstanding. First time I heard Harbeths I was immediately sold. It didn't at all sound like the music was coming from a box. The instant I close my eyes while listening the Harbeth speakers completely disappear into a huge, deep, sound stage. And they're so smooth. Anyway, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I couldn't be more satisfied with my system.

Re: Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary Model Speakers...
enjoyed my shl5plus but as they were near a wall i couldn`t get them to work . my son felt they did not go deep enough and hated them so they went sadly . replaced by a speaker the same size that went deeper . this speaker does not have the almost electrostatic midrange of the lovely shl5plus but it suits the room better . I have heard the anniversary version a number of times . I loved my p3esr harbeth too , in fact i preferred themn to the bigger one at times

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
