    HDTracks Discount Code

I used to buy music from HDTracks. But today, with the ability to stream Hi-Rez music (Qobuz) and upsample any CD-quality music, I have not bought anything from them in several years. Early on, I thought that they had a good business model but I am not so sure anymore.

    Re: HDTracks Discount Code

I do purchase downloads from HDTracks now and then. I used to buy much more but recently been buying albums to get a reasonable vinyl collection built up. Since I prefer to own my music versus streaming HDTracks is a big source. Also, anything I download is higher resolution then whatever I could stream . To me CD is the absolute lowest quality level I will consider.

Lately been making some purchases from Acoustic Sounds because they have an over the top selection of vinyl.

Since I use HQP, any music that I stream (even plain CD-quality music) is upsampled and converted to DSD512. That is actually a higher resolution than the 96/24 or DSD64 downloads that I bought from them. Give it a try Randy, I know that you use HQP as well.

    Re: HDTracks Discount Code

Yup, definitely Nico, but I am also a firm believer in better in better out. I believe the higher and/or better the file going into HQPlayer the better sounding the end results (or course with other variables).

I mean a CD rip upsampled compared to a high resolution download or a SACD rip sounds better when upsampled with HQPlayer. Of course I know there are other variables, such as original production quality, etc. Just an in general rule of thumb which seems to be true to me; as always YMMV.

Anyway, I just thought it would be nice to have a thread for HDTracks discount codes. If other AS members don't want to use them that is totally up to them.

So, HDTracks has gotten so weak minded they can’t come up with a new code, just drop a letter from the previous week. LOL.

    Re: HDTracks Discount Code

If there is a new code everyday, why don't they just sell at the code price everyday without playing the code game?
Micro Seiki SX-8000 air bearing table, SME 312s arm, SME 3012R arn, Dynavector XV-1s cartridge, Lyra Etna SL cartridge, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 2 track R2R, Ampex 350 tape repros, Roon Nucleus Plus music server, HiFi Rose 150B DAC, ARC Ref 6, ARC Ref 75 with KT-150s, Parasound JC5 amp , JBL 4345 speakers, Viero Equilibro Level 3 speaker cables, and Definitive Technology Ref subs.

You only get the code if they email it to you. So if you aren’t on their mailing list you pay full price. Plus not all albums are discounted, mostly just new ones.

However, I wish they would reduce their prices, and skip the sales. IMO, $17.99 is too much for a new album, even if it is high-res.

It reminds me of jewelry stores that perpetually are selling everything at "50% off."
